WBSSC Teacher Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Primary Teacher (PRT):

  • Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education and have a Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks. 
  • (or) Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education program (B.EI.Ed).
  • (or) Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • (or) a Bachelor of Education and a graduation grade point average of at least 50% (B.Ed).
  • WBTET-2014/CTET must have been passed by the candidate.

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT):

  • Candidate must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (DE.Ed/B.Ed/B.P.Ed/D.P.Ed) in a relevant subject from a recognized university/institute,
  • or a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) OR
  • a Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor.
  • Applicant should have qualified WBTET-II/CET

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT):

  • Postgraduate degree in concerned subject from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and OBC) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from an institution recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education.

Age Criteria
