IAS applications for 2023 will be available online on February 1, 2023, following the official notification. The Commission will only accept online applications for the IAS exam; no physical application forms will be accepted. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will give applicants twenty days to complete their IAS applications online. The deadline for online applications for the IAS exam 2023 is February 21.

Steps to Apply Online for IAS Exam 2023
The UPSC IAS application 2023 will be divided into two parts. Part one and two.
- Visit the UPSC’s official website at upsconline.nic.in.
- Navigate to the Exam Notifications tab.
- Click the Apply Online button.
- Select the link for Civil Services Part-I registration.
- Read the application form instructions thoroughly before clicking Yes.
Fill out the part-I application form with all of your basic information, such as:
- Permanent address
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Marital status
- Parents’ names Community
- Name
- Email ID
- Educational qualification
- Contact number
- Category
Once all of the information has been entered, click Continue. Check all of the information in the online form carefully before clicking Submit.
Documents required to fill the UPSC IAS Application Form
The following details and documents are required to apply online for the UPSC IAS Exam.

Step 3: Fill out the online application form for the Civil Services (IAS) with the following information:

Step 5: When you click the button, a page with a registration number will appear. Take a note of the registration number or print the page.
Application Fees for UPSC IAS Exam
Candidates can pay the IAS Exam application fee online or in person.
Candidates can pay the application fee online using a Visa/Master/RuPay credit/debit card or SBI internet banking.
Offline mode: Candidates can pay the application fee offline in cash at any SBI branch. According to the official website, “Applicants who opt for ‘Pay by Cash’ mode during part II registration should print the system generated pay-in-slip and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only.” Candidates should be aware that the ‘Pay by Cash’ option will be disabled one day before the application process closes. Candidates who generated their pay-in-slip before the process was deactivated, on the other hand, can make the payment at any SBI branch during banking hours on the closing date.

Image Specifications for IAS Application Form
After paying the application fee, candidates must click the Continue button and select their preferred Civil Services Exam centre. Following that, candidates must upload their scanned photo and signature in accordance with the specifications listed below:

Candidates must then click the Continue button. When you click the button, a declaration page will appear on your screen. To agree to the UPSC declaration, candidates must click the I Agree button. Following that, candidates can submit the form by clicking the Submit button.
To register for Part II, candidates must go to the UPSC official website and click on the Click Here for Part II link. After clicking the link, a new page will open in which candidates must enter their registration ID and date of birth before clicking the Submit button. The Civil Services (IAS) Exam Part-II application form will appear on the screen after you click the button. Candidates must enter all requested information and then click the Submit button. It completes the online IAS application.
Withdrawal of IAS Application Form
Candidates may withdraw their application for the IAS exam by doing the following.
- Go to the Upsc.gov.in which is the official website.
- Navigate to the What’s New section.
- Navigate to the Withdrawal of Application: Civil Services page (Preliminary) Examination
- Click the link for withdrawal on the new screen.
- Again, in the right corner, click on the Application withdrawal link.
- Read the instructions and then press the Yes button.
- Enter your registration number and click Continue.
- Enter the following information:
- Name
- Gender
- Date of Birth
- Fathers Name
- Mothers Name
- Mobile Number
- e-mail id
And then select the option to withdraw the application and click agree. Candidates can withdraw their IAS application in the manner described above.
Note: Candidates must submit separate applications for the IAS Preliminary and Mains exams. “In case of any guidance/ information/ clarification regarding their applications, candidature, etc., candidates can contact UPSC’s Facilitation Counter near gate C of its campus in person or over telephone number 011-23385271/ 011-23381125/ 011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Ans. The Commission does not allow candidates to change the Date of Birth that they provide at the time of registration and that the Commission records on any grounds. As a result, candidates are advised to provide accurate information during the online application process.
Ans. Candidates have three weeks to one month to complete the application process.
Ans. Candidates who pay by Bank Challan must submit their online application at least one day before the notified closing date. The application will not be submitted unless the online application fees are paid, and candidates will not be permitted to take the exam.
Ans. This should be avoided, but if it is, the Commission will accept the data provided in the final application that is successfully submitted online. Previous applications will be rejected. All candidates are advised to complete only one application form.
