Steps to Check UPSC IES Cutoff
Candidates must follow the steps outlined below to determine the IES cut off:
- Go to the UPSC’s official website, Upsc.gov.in
- On the homepage, look for the cutoff link for your discipline.
- Download and save the UPSC IES Cutoff PDF once it has opened.
- Print out the cutoff PDF for future reference.
Steps to calculate UPSC IES Marks
- Step 1: Both Prelims and Mains make up the UPSC IES Exam.
- Step 2: A total of 250 questions of 500 marks are asked in the prelims.
- Step 3: For each correct answer, reward two marks.
- Step 4: Each incorrect answer will result in a 1/3 marks deduction.
- Step 5: Total Marks = (Number of Correct Answers *1 – Number of Correct Answers x ⅓)

Points to Consider: UPSC IES Exam
- The Commission releases the IES cutoffs after the qualifying candidates’ IES results are released.
- The IES qualifying preliminary exam cut off for 2022 will be 15% of total marks, or 75 out of 500 for general and reserved category candidates, and 10% of total marks for PH category candidates.
- UPSC shortlists candidates 6-7 times the total number of vacancies for the IES 2022 main examination based on the preliminary exam’s cutoff score.
- Candidates in the General, OBC, SC, and ST categories must score at least 20% in the main exam, while PH candidates must score at least 10%.
- For the final stage, a personality test/interview, UPSC will shortlist candidates twice the number of vacancies.
- The IES 2022 cutoff will be determined by the commission based on the marks obtained by the last qualified candidate in each stage, as determined by the commission’s selection criteria.
