In a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) requested a postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) for two to three months. The NEET PG 2023 is currently scheduled for March 5.

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has declared that the NEET PG exam will be on March 5, 2023. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) expressed concern that the candidates who are completing their mandatory internships are not being given enough time to prepare. In reality, many future medical students still need to finish their internships and will be unable to take the NEET PG 23 exam due to the misalignment of the completion dates and the exam date.

On Tuesday, February 7, the health ministry announced an extension to the cut-off date for mandatory internships, now set to August 11, 2023. This decision was taken in response to a request from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), with the expectation that the date of the NEET PG 2023 exam will be scheduled after the internship is completed.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has been tasked with the responsibility of maintaining uniformity and standardization in postgraduate exams in India, and we must ensure that these goals are kept in mind when creating the timeline for NEET PG. The top priority should be the health and safety of the students.
