The seventh iteration of the ‘Hridaya’ HR conclave was held by the Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapantam. Prof MV Anuradha, the IIMV Dean of Administration, opened the event with a speech about the economic recession, job losses, and the difficulties being experienced by businesses and workers in this period.

At the event, Prof Deepika Gupta, the Chairperson of IIM-Vizag’s Career Development Services and Alumni Relations, spoke. Sameer Chaudhary, the Director and Head of L&T Electrical and Automation, imparted his wisdom to attendees on what to consider when selecting a job. He also gave keen insight into Schneider Electric, the parent company, and the vibrant culture they nurture.

The event was then led by Yashwant Chauhan (Chief Human Resource Manager of GAIL India) and a panel of Varun Reddy Sevva (CHRO at Novtech), Harini Sreenivasan (Partner at Semcostyle Institute India LLP), and Ashish Mittal (Group CHRO at Sreenidhi Educational Group) to talk about “Planning Ahead: Working Through and Out of Recession”.

The conversation revolved around some pertinent issues such as what modifications the talent acquisition process may undergo in the future and the difficulties that talent acquisition personnel face. It was pointed out that hard skills would be the main criteria for selection, while soft skills would become a factor that sets one apart. The panel also highlighted the necessity of being innovative, as various software like ChatGPT may potentially cause job losses in the future.
