The Madras High Court has ordered the relevant authorities to take action against the schools operating illegally in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district. While considering a petition from a school in the Salem area, Justice Abdul Quddhose issued a directive to this effect. The judge ruled that if the respondents’ (authorities’) attention is drawn to the fact that schools in the Salem district are operating illegally and without a DTCP licence, they must take similar legal action against those institutions as they have done with the petitioner school.
The petition from a school, represented by Kuppusamy, asked the judge to issue interim orders in response to the authority’s order dated August 2 this year requiring the petitioner to transfer its students to a nearby institution on the grounds that the petitioner’s school lacks recognition and the Director of Town and Country Planning’s approval (DTCP).
