On Monday, representatives from a number of student organizations held demonstrations outside the renowned Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in memory of Darshan Solanki, a spokesperson stated. Solanki, a freshman from Maninagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, purportedly took his own life on February 12. His family has alleged that he experienced bias due to his Dalit background and have raised doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Members of the Students Federation of India, DYFI, Republican Party of India, Jati Anth Sangharsh Samiti, Bhim Army, and other organizations, demanded justice for Solanki by protesting outside the IIT Bombay campus in Powai. They requested the filing of a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act regarding Solanki’s death and an extensive investigation to uncover the struggles he endured.
