The petitioners ask the NTA to issue a new notification after resolving their concerns, postponing the NEET 2022 date.

NEW DELHI: Many candidates for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG), who are slated to take the test on July 17, addressed the Delhi High Court on Wednesday to request that the authorities postpone the competition. According to the petitioners’ attorney, the petition was heard by a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad and was listed for hearing on Thursday.

The petitioners, who are asking for the entrance exam for undergraduate medical and dental programmes to be cancelled, stated that the authorities should address their complaints before issuing a new notification resetting the examination date. The prayers stated that the court would be “gratefully pleased to issue any writ/directions in the nature of certiorari or mandamus directing the respondents to set aside the examination schedule of NEET-UG 2022 examination as mentioned in the notification dated April 6, 2022, issued by respondent no. 1 national testing agency.” Direct the respondents to publish a new notice postponing the NEET-UG 2022 examination schedule after taking into account the complaints made by the petitioners in written statements dated May 12 and July 8 of 2022.

The petition additionally requests that “NEET-UG Phase 2” be performed by the authorities after taking into account the “large distance” that some applicants must travel to particular test locations since the country is dealing with “the current grave circumstances caused by floods.” The petitioners also ask for the creation of a complaint-redressal structure to address all concerns and issues brought up in relation to the exam in a timely way.
