Model G20 at IIT Hyderabad Concludes with Seven Winners from Across India

Seven deserving winners from various corners of India were honored at the conclusion of the extensive six-month-long Model G20 event hosted at IIT Hyderabad on October 13, 2023. Each of these accomplished individuals received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 as a testament to their remarkable achievements.

Model G20 at IIT Hyderabad Concludes

These seven winners were chosen from an impressive pool of over 4,000 participants from all over the country. The Model G20 initiative comprised three stages that spanned six months.

The distinguished winners include:

  1. Divyansh Joshi from Vellore Institute of Technology, Bhopal, recognized for his contributions to ‘Women Empowerment.’
  2. Sourav Jyoti Baishya from Agricultural University, Assam, celebrated for his efforts in ‘Lifestyle for Environment.’
  3. Sumirini Puppala from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, Odisha, acknowledged for her work on ‘Progress in Sustainable Development Goals.’
  4. Sushree Sangeeta Behera from Samanta Chandrasekhar College, Puri, commended for her insights on ‘Climate change and its impact.’
  5. Hitaishi Chakravarty, representing KD Dental College and Hospital, Mathura, recognized for her contributions to ‘Sustainable Living.’
  6. Anaya Degloorkar from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad, distinguished for her work on ‘Revitalizing Global Governance.’
  7. Malvika Jayakumar, a student from IIT-Bombay, celebrated for her contributions to ‘Circular Economy and Lifestyle for Environment.’

During the event, K Sanjay Murthy, Union higher education secretary, highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing digital public infrastructure, with projects like SWAYAM and DISHA, along with an emphasis on research and student mobility. He emphasized the importance of nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit among the youth and promoting innovation.

The event featured distinguished guests, including Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa of India, as the Chief Guest, and K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Higher Education in UMoE, as the guest of honor. BS Murty, Director of IITH, and others also graced the event with their presence.
