Piyush Goyal, the minister of commerce and industry, has ordered the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) to provide scholarships to support deserving and gifted students who wish to attend the institute. Scholarships, according to him, would make sure that no student is “discouraged from doing so because of the tuition structure or living expenses” if they were talented and competent enough to pursue studies at IIFT.

Goyal stated that by bringing in students from all backgrounds and regions of the country, would help the school become more diverse. The minister spoke last night at the IIFT’s 55th convocation. In order to make all of the campuses more lively and modern, he also requested the IIFT board to take into account approving more funding for the student councils.

He also recommended that the management seek to cooperate with famous universities from around the world to establish an international institute at GIFT City in Gujarat. Speaking on commerce, he stated that students at the institute should participate in the effort to increase exports from USD 675 billion to USD 2 trillion by 2030. “Nations that effectively took prosperity to the day-to-day life of its residents are those who stepped out into the globe and competed on equal terms, on price, quality, delivery, and service,” he said.
