Medicos who are displeased have asked the NBE to delay NEET PG 2023 and lengthen the cutoff date for MBBS internships.

The outlook for many medical students is dim after the National Board of Examinations (NBE) declared March 31 as the final day for MBBS internship completion. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) and hopeful pupils have urged the health ministry to extend the cutoff date to June 30, 2023.

The National Board of Examination (NBE) made public the date of the NEET PG 2023 examination on January 6. The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) then asked for the deadline of MBBS internship to be extended as over half of the medical interns will be allowed to take part in the assessment because of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Many students have made their voices heard on social media in regards to the NEET PG 2023 exam, planned for March 5th, 2023, calling for it to be delayed. Appeals have been made to delay the exam or extend the deadline to finish their internships, as well as complaints about technical issues found when making payments.

The Resident Doctors Association has collected information indicating that the end date for internships will be between April and August of 2023. According to the Indian Medical Association, around three-quarters of interns across the nation, especially from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, will not be able to take the exam. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association has sent a letter to the Union Health Minister, NMC, and NBE concerning this matter.

The NMC representatives are reviewing the situation and will soon decide if the internship cutoff date should be extended. According to the report, approximately 50,000 students may not be able to take the exam. A MBBS intern shared on Twitter that students from 11 states will be unable to take the NEETPG2023 exam since the March 31st deadline. They urged that the requirement should be changed without delaying the exam.
