According to a press release, Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais has instructed officials to revoke the recognition of private institutions if they are discovered to be in violation of government and University Grant Commission (UGC) standards. According to a release on Thursday, Bais stressed the need to ensure that a university has sufficient land, buildings, and facilities before granting it registration during a review meeting with representatives of the department of higher and technical education at Raj Bhavan.

The governor, who also serves as the universities’ ex-officio chancellor, claimed that he had discovered that some institutions were operating with insufficient funding and that UGC standards and government regulations were occasionally not followed. Vice-chancellors have been told to adhere to standards and build the fundamental infrastructure. Private universities must abide by all regulations for the benefit of their students, he continued.
