In a strategic collaboration with the Centre for Business Innovation (CBI) at the renowned Indian School of Business (ISB), the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), India’s premier industry body for alternative assets, has introduced a specialized training initiative tailored for PE/VC fund managers.
This program is designed specifically to meet the needs of professionals serving on the boards of early to growth-stage companies within private capital funds. Its core focus is to strike a perfect balance between theoretical knowledge, practical application, and real-world experience, as detailed in an official statement.
This two-day certification program will be conducted quarterly in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi. Each day of the program will consist of eight hours of in-person classroom instruction, totaling 16 live classroom hours. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive certificates acknowledging their achievement.
The certification sessions, comprising a total of 16 impactful classroom hours over two days, will be held in Hyderabad. Each participant will be awarded a ‘Certificate of Participation,’ highlighting their enhanced proficiency in corporate governance, as mentioned in the release.
The primary objective of this initiative is to equip participants with a deeper understanding of the economic factors that influence business performance and valuation. This, in turn, enhances their strategic thinking and critical analysis skills.
Generously sponsored by IVCA members, including Accel, Ascent, Catamaran, Peak XV Ventures, Ski-Capital, T-Hub, and TMF Group, the release underlines the significance of this endeavor.
Karthik Reddy, co-founder of Blume Ventures and chairperson of IVCA, expressed optimism about the partnership. He emphasized the critical role PE/VCs have played in supporting and nurturing innovation in early-stage companies over the past decade.
Reddy also stressed the importance of safeguarding against risky investments, which is a pivotal factor in determining the future of India’s private capital market. The launch of this investment governance training program represents a significant step towards one of IVCA’s core objectives – making India a global fund management hub and showcasing its impact on the world stage.
This program has been meticulously designed to strike a harmonious balance between theory, practical application, and real-world exposure. Its central aim is to empower participants with a comprehensive understanding of the economic factors that influence business performance and valuation.
This is achieved by enhancing their capabilities in strategic thinking and critical analysis, as highlighted in the program details.
Rajendra Srivastava, Novartis Professor of Marketing and Innovation at the Indian School of Business, expressed delight at collaborating with IVCA on investor education programs and advocacy research benchmarking global best practices.
This partnership aims to foster a robust venture capital investment market that supports business innovation and value migration in India.
