IIT Mandi is extending an invitation to students and teachers from UP government schools to take part in PRAYAS 2.0.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi’s Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) has extended an invitation to Uttar Pradesh Government school students and their teachers to attend the PRAYAS 2.0 summer camp, to be held from June 5th to July 4th, 2023. To be eligible for the flagship program, applicants must pass a qualifying test, and registration is open until March 10th, 2023.

On May 15th, the institute will announce which students have been selected from an estimated 100 to participate in a summer camp at IIT Mandi. This camp will be a residential training program and upon its completion, a competition will be held to decide which projects, developed by the students, are the best.

The Institute desires to empower youthful learners to become pioneering scientists and technologists, by getting them involved in stimulating mentor-led programs that develop their skills, spark imagination, and cultivate life skills.
The PRAYAS 2.0 program will enable students to gain knowledge on robotics and AI and how they can be applied to practical situations. It will also provide an opportunity for them to create novel concepts with potential to revolutionize the world.

Dr. Tushar Jain, Head of the Center for Continuing Education at IIT Mandi, commented on the significance of this summer camp for young pupils, citing the success of PRAYAS 1.0, which has been expanded to the UP Government. Two hundred participants, including pupils and educators, will be a part of this residential program, where they will learn robotics, programming, computer science, electronics, and AI.

At the conclusion of the training, a competition will be held to assess the creativity and originality of the participants. IIT Mandi’s customized robotics will be made available for the training and the creation of prototypes, Jain added. We are very grateful to UPSDM for working with us in providing these skills to teachers and students in UP. Through this camp, the students and teachers will get an insight into IIT Mandi and be trained under the direction of faculty members and research scholars. Additionally, we have an artificial intelligence and robotics center where they will be instructed using the most advanced lab facilities. Jain further mentioned.
