As part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) initiative, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has launched ‘Yuva Sangam’, a unique exposure visit for the youth of Gujarat and Assam to experience the culture, art, life, and landmarks of the region. 18 students and off-campus youngsters from Gujarat will be travelling to Assam for a week, while 53 students and off-campus youngsters from Assam will be visiting Gujarat.

Between February 24 and March 02, 2023, a group of 11 males and 7 females from Assam, accompanied by their officers, will be touring various locations in Gujarat. During their visit, the students will learn about tourism, traditions, development, technology, and the importance of people-to-people connections.

The students will be touring NIT Surat, Modhera Sun Temple, and Rani ki Vav, Sabarmati Ashram, and Riverfront, amongst other places. They will also gain a firsthand experience of living with scholars of various cultural backgrounds at IITGN and NIT Surat campuses and get involved in various activities with them.

IITGN, the nodal institute of the event in Gujarat, has chosen 27 males and 26 females from various districts of the state, who will be hosted by IIT Guwahati. IITProf Rajat Moona, the director of IITGN, pointed out that Yuva Sangam is a great opportunity for people of different parts of India to learn from each other’s cultures, traditions, development, technology, etc. He also compared this journey to Mahatma Gandhi’s journey through India when he returned from South Africa, as he did not have access to modern day means of connectivity. Rajat Moona stated that despite these improved means of communication nowadays, the students will still have a great time.

Supratim Deb, an undergraduate student at Silchar majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication, expressed his ideas after arriving in Gujarat and IIT Gandhinagar, expressing his enthusiasm for this journey and its potential to assist him in both his academic and personal growth. He has already encountered many new individuals and is looking forward to meeting many more so he can learn from their knowledge and life experiences. He is also eager to find out more about Gujarat’s culture, cuisine, and music, as well as visiting the Statue of Unity.
