A Master of Science in Biological Sciences program has been announced by the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi). The program will begin in the academic year 2024–2025. Admission to the 20-seat, two-year MSc program will take place via the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM 2024).

To close the big data analysis and presentation gap in the current job market, the MSc in Biological Science program will heavily emphasize quantitative biology as a key topic. An open basket will be used for students to select elective courses. Instead than focusing solely on instruction, the program will place a great emphasis on “learning by doing.” There isn’t a single suggested course that is solely theoretical; instead, every core course in the curriculum has a practical or analytics-based component.

In order to improve their exposure to the real world and potential employability, students will be encouraged to complete projects or internships in academic laboratories as well as in start-up or industry settings during their final semester, according to IIT Delhi.

Head of department (HoD) Bishwajit Kundu of the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences stated, “This program is a highly selective opportunity for bright, enthusiastic students who wish to study interdisciplinary biology at the postgraduate level.”

“We have ensured a balance of coursework to prepare students for employment in the modern biotechnology market, as well as to provide a strong foundation towards higher studies and discovery research in interdisciplinary biological sciences,” stated Manidipa Banerjee, program in-charge of the MSc in Biological Sciences.

IIT Delhi provides 30 academic units specializing in different branches of science and engineering, and the dynamic atmosphere of cooperation amongst these units has fostered a thriving ecosystem.
