Anil Shah, who placed first in the Chartered Accountant (CA) final exam, tells Careers360 that consistency in preparation is more crucial. Today, July 15, 2022, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced the CA May 2022 results. Shah earned 642 out of 800 points while attending H R College of Commerce and Economics after attending Saint Mary High School through Class 10.

“At first, it seemed unbelievable. Despite your excellent preparation over the course of time, the CA exams can still be quite unexpected. I gave it everything I had, expecting the best. Nevertheless, receiving AIR was a huge shock. In response to being named CA topper 2022, Meet Anil Shah said, “I received a call from ICAI members informing me that I have obtained AIR 1.

ICAI CA preparation

Meet Anil Shah revealed to Careers360 his secret to passing the CA final test, saying he used to set daily goals in terms of chapters and ideas. He was able to complete 10 to 12 hours of study every day. He used to spend one or two hours studying after arriving at the office, depending on the amount of office work, as he is presently completing an articleship in the audit department. Meet Anil Shah asserts that the ICAI’s study guide is the most crucial resource for preparing for the CA test. The study material alone contains almost all of the concepts they want to evaluate. Rarely do they ask questions that are not related to the syllabus and study materials provided.

To get ready for the exam, Meet Anil Shah suggested taking practice exams and studying question banks from prior years. “The previous year’s papers for the ICAI exams are one item that students shouldn’t overlook. It aids in your understanding of the potential testing difficulty level for the ICAI. There could not be much harm even if one misses the mock exams. However, the exam papers from the year before are crucial, according to Shah. Anil Shah discovers practical subjects to be simpler. Because he enjoys math, the computation never presented a problem to him. He had some trouble with theoretical disciplines like audits and law, where it is necessary to keep in mind the provision.

CA Final topper: Challenges, future plans

Meet Anil Shah said to Careers360 when asked about the difficulties of becoming a CA, “I appreciate face-to-face classes and communicating with the lecturers. However, in online classes, even questions have a WhatsApp answer. Your knowledge will grow as a result of the face-to-face interactions because other students’ questions will also be addressed. In light of this, learning from video lectures was my first and biggest problem. The second issue that the majority of students have is juggling their work and articleship.

Because it exposes one to a variety of topics, including business management, financial management, economics, legal knowledge, and others, Shah has always been drawn to Chartered Accountants. As a result, even after this, he will still be able to enter the consulting industry because the CA programme has given him a broad understanding of many economic factors. It is not limited to a single course. Additionally, Meet Anil Shah is still considering his options after earning his degree and is deciding on a career route. First, he will finish his articleship. He will choose whether to remain employed by the same company or open his own chartered accounting firm. He might also consider entering the field.
