The Delhi Police announced on Wednesday that it had detained six people in Southeast Delhi for allegedly running a phoney education facility and providing “students” with phoney transcripts and diplomas. In Sunlight Colony’s Kilokari village, two of the accused, Rehan (25) and Kaif (27), owned the Mountain Institute of Management and Technology, where they used to give phoney mark sheets and diplomas for graduation courses without the students having to show up for exams.
According to a senior police official, they used to charge between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 per person. Rekha (26), Poonam (22), Deepika (22) and Amita (22) are the other detained individuals (22). Esha Pandey, deputy commissioner of police for the southeast, explained their method of operation, saying they used to gather information on potential targets from a job portal and then promise to provide them with backdated certificates of graduation courses without requiring them to take any exams. “The payment was made through UPI and other online payment methods. They used to give the candidate phoney degrees from reputable institutions after collecting payment, preventing the record from being updated in the relevant universities “She spoke.
On the basis of a tip received on July 13, the arrests were made. They were found to be in possession of six mobile phones, a laptop, printer, seals, fake marksheets, degree certificates, a record register, and payment slips, according to the police.
