With just two days until the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) December 2022 exam, approximately 10,000 applicants have yet to receive their admit cards. Those who asked for details regarding the postponement of the admit cards claimed that the National Board of Examinations (NBE) threatened to not issue their FMGE results.

The FMGE December 2022 exam, initially set for December 4, had to be delayed to January 20 due to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections organized by the Delhi State Election Commission. This exam is conducted annually to allow individuals with medical degrees from foreign universities to practice medicine in India.

The FMGE had declared that the admit cards would be released on January 13, yet some of the students who had applied for the exam did not obtain their hall tickets supposedly due to “blurry image and missing documents”. An applicant complained that the NBE director had threatened to keep back the results if the applicants spoke out against the board. The applicants were expelled from the office when they requested for clarification on why the admit cards were not issued.

He said he had no other choice but to take his own life since he had put in 18 hours of studying for the past few months and all his effort would be for nothing. Shankul Dwivedi, a member of the IMA Junior Doctors Network Standing Committee, took to Twitter to express his concern about the 10,000 FMG students who had not received their admit cards for the January 20th FMG Exam, and demanded an immediate response from NMC and NBE about the situation and a swift resolution.

The medical applicant stated that they had not received their admission card for FMGE2022 and that the help desk helpline was not responding to calls or emails. They also said that around 10,000 other FMGE applicants were facing the same issue and asked for the admission cards to be distributed so that their many months of preparation would not be wasted.
