A woman from Latur who has 15 percent vision passes the UPSC civil services exam

Pooja Kadam, 30, from Latur, Maharashtra, was one of the 761 people who passed the UPSC civil services exam 2020 on Friday, despite having only 15% eyesight.

Kadam, from Taka village in Ausa tehsil, was ranked 577th in the exams, which she took for the second time.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Fergusson College in Pune and a master’s degree in Political Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University in Delhi. Kadam is the youngest of four sisters, and her father works as a schoolteacher in the village.

On Friday, the Union Public Service Commission released the results of the examination, which is held every year to select IAS, IFS, and IPS officers, as well as other civil servants.

Engineering graduates Shubham Kumar, an IIT Bombay graduate, and Jagrati Awasthi, who completed B.Tech (electrical engineering) from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, took first and second place, respectively, in the coveted civil services examination 2020.
