A PhD student from IIT Delhi has tragically passed away, and another has been injured in a road accident; the institute is grieving the loss.

On the night of January 17, 2023, an unfortunate road accident happened outside of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi campus, resulting in the death of one student and the injury of another from the textile and fibre department.

Ashraf Nawaz Khan and Ankur Shukla, both PhD students, were involved in a ‘tragic’ accident and unfortunately Khan did not survive while Shukla is being treated. IIT Delhi has stated that the police are looking into the incident and that they are very saddened by the death of their student. They are giving aid to the families of Khan and Shukla.

On the evening of January 17, 2023, two Textile and Fibre Engineering Department Ph.D. students from IIT Delhi encountered a fatal car crash outside the university. Unfortunately, Mr. Ashraf Nawaz Khan was killed because of the collision, and Mr. Ankur Shukla, who was also injured, is currently getting medical attention. The police are currently investigating the accident, according to an official statement from IIT Delhi.

The institute has expressed its deep sorrow over the passing of one of its students and has sent its sincere sympathies to the student’s family. Additionally, the institute is sending prayers for the swift recovery of Mr. Ankur Shukla. The institution is also providing all the help and assistance to the families of both students.
