A medical student studying MBBS, who had tried to take their own life due to being harassed by a more senior person, has passed away in Hyderabad.

A female postgraduate medical student from Warangal, Telangana, passed away on Sunday after attempting to take her own life a few days prior. Reportedly, she had been suffering from harassment at the hands of a male doctor who was her senior at the same college.

The elder college student was apprehended on December 24. Loved ones of the deceased woman organized demonstrations at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) located in the city where she received care. Student organizations and civil society organizations marched in solidarity, advocating for justice for the younger doctor’s family. Health Minister Harish Rao conveyed his sympathies to the doctor’s family.
