WBPSC 2022 or WBCS 2022 is known as West Bengal Public Service Commission. It is a commission that comes under the West Bengal Government. WBPSC is responsible to conduct the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) exam to recruit eligible and dedicated candidates as Group A post Officers in the state of West Bengal.

WBCS 2022 Recruitment & Salary Detail

The recruitment will be held for the different services which come under Group A, B, C, and D. All the services that come under Group A, B, C, and D and their respective salary are given below in the table.

GROUP A – Executive Salary

WBCS 2022 Application Form

Candidates are advised to fill the form as soon as the application gets released from the authority on the official website. Here we have shared the procedure of filling the online application form.

How to fill the WBCS Application Form?

  1. First of all, visit the official website of WBPSC.
  2. Click on the link named, “Apply for WBCS”.
  3. Now open the link and first start your registration process.
  4. For registration, fill in the required details such as Name, Contact No., Email-id, etc. and confirm them, and then submit the form.
  5. After the submission of the registration form, the system will send you a mail regarding your automated generated credentials.
  6. Now again go to the dashboard and then click further for the application procedure.
  7. Here you have to log in with your credentials which were provided to you via mail.
  8. Now select any of the assessments from the drop list which will be provided at the end of the page.
  9. Now check the required eligibility criteria.
  10. In the application form, you have to fill in your personal details, educational details, contact details, category details, etc. as per the requirement.
  11. Now confirm and preview the details and then click on the “Save and Next”.
  12. Now attach your recent passport-sized photo and signature in the same format as prescribed by the authority.
  13. After that attach your qualifying degree mark sheet and declaration in the section of Add Scholarly Details.
  14.  After that choose your preference for the desired services.
  15. Now, click on the Save and Proceed button.
  16. Preview the form before the final submission because no correction will be entertained once you filled the form.
  17. In the last, to complete your application process, pay the category-wise application fee.

Particulars for Signature and Photo

The photo and signature of the candidates must have in the .jpeg/.jpg format and the file size should not exceed 100 KB. The photo size and resolution should be 3.5 x 4.5 cm and 138×177 pixels respectively.

Application Fee

  • Online as well as Offline, both the mode of payment will be accessible for paying the application fee.
  • For online payment mode, at the payment gateway choose your desired bank and then pay the application fee.
  • For Offline payment mode, you have to generate an SBI Challan and will have to deposit at the nearest branch.
  • Candidates have to pay Rs.210/- for the application fee + Service Charges (different charges for different modes of payment).

WBCS 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

A candidate who is applying for WBCS must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from any recognized University.
  • Good knowledge of the Bengali language in reading, writing, and speaking (not necessary for such candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).

Age Limit (as of 01st January 2022)

  • The minimum age of the candidates for Group A & C posts is 21 years while the maximum age is 36 years.
  • The minimum age of the candidates for Group B (West Bengal Police Service) is 20 years while the maximum age is 36 years.
  • The minimum age of the candidates for Group D posts is 21 years while the maximum age is 36 years.
  • As per the norm of the West Bengal government, age relaxation will be provided. (For OBC candidates: 3 years and for SC/ST candidates: 5 years)

WBCS 2022 Exam Pattern

The West Bengal Civil Services exam will be conducted in three stages, namely:

  1. Prelims exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Interview/Personality Test

1. Preliminary Examination Pattern

The preliminary examination is conducted for the purpose of screening test only. Its nature is qualifying only. Once you qualify for this exam then you will get a pass to sit for the mains exam.

2. Mains Exam Pattern

All those candidates who qualify for prelims will be able to write the mains exam of WBCS. The scores of the mains exam will be considered to make the merit list. There will be 8 papers in the mains exam and each paper is compulsory to attend. The mains exam will be of descriptive type.

3. Personality Test

There is no particular syllabus for this test. As it is named, Personality Test so candidates have to show their personality to the interviewers. Personality doesn’t mean your looks only but it represents many other aspects of the candidates such as their understanding, body type, sharpness, IQ level, moral liabilities, social liabilities, interest, and so many other things. In this test, candidates have to show their different characteristics as a competitor, as a human, as an administrator, as an examiner, etc.

In the interview, many questions will be asked to the candidates related to their hobbies, studies, day to day events and responsibilities, etc.

The personality test carries 200 marks for posts of Group A and B, 150 marks for Group C posts, and 100 marks for Group D posts.

The syllabus of Mathematics (Arithmetic) is almost similar to the Mathematics paper (compulsory) at the Madhyamik Examination of the BSE (Board of Secondary Education), West Bengal.

WBCS 2022 Exam Center

  • The Preliminary Exam will be organized at various places in Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal state.
  • All the candidates of the 3 hill sub-divisions (Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik, and Kurseong) and ST category candidates of the district Darjeeling will be given chance to appear for the examination at Darjeeling center and all category candidates who belong from the district Kalimpong will be given chance to appear at the Kalimpong center.
  • After the successful conduction of the pre-exam of WBCS, later the mains exam will be conducted in the centers of Kolkata.
  • Thereafter, the Interview/ Personality test will be organized in the Public Service Commission’s office in Kolkata, West Bengal.

WBCS 2022 Admit Card

West Bengal Civil Services admit card/ hall ticket will be released tentatively in the month of February 2022 for Prelims. The admit card/ hall ticket for both stages will be shared separately. Admit card is considered an important document for the WBCS exam because it is the key to enter in the examination hall. So it is very important to download it and then keep it safe for future references.

How to download the Admit Card?

  • Open the official webpage of WBPSC.
  • Now you have to search for the Admit Card section for the WBCS exam.
  • Now enter your registration number along with your date of birth.
  • Now download your admit card and take a printout of it for future references.

How to rectify the mistake in the WBCS Admit Card?

After downloading the admit card, read the informations thoroughly. If you find something wrong information such as in Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name, etc. printed on the admit card then immediately contact the authority for the discrepancy.

WBCS 2022 Result

For the result updates, candidates have to check the official website of the West Bengal Public Service Commission. The result of the pre, mains, and final results will be published on the website of WBPSC only.  The results for all the phases will be published separately on the official website.

The result will carry rank-wise roll no. and the name of the qualified candidates in the pdf form, which can be downloadable. The final scorecard of the candidates will be released after the completion of all the phases of the exam i.e. Pre, Mains, and Interview.

To become an officer in the state government of West Bengal, candidates have to clear three stages: Pre, Mains, and Interview.

The Pre-examination is of qualifying nature only. It is basically a screening test to provide entry for the mains exam. The marks of pre-examination will not be counted in the final merit list.
