UPSC SO/STENO 2022: The UPSC Section Officers/ Stenographers Grade B/Grade 1 exam which is popularly known as UPSC SO/ Steno is a nationwide exam. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC SO/Steno 2022 exam is going to conduct after a very long period of 7 years. So it is expected that the no. of aspirants will give the exam to get recruitment as a SO/Steno post under the service of the central government. The mode of exam will be offline and recruitment will be based on the written exam and evaluation of the service.

UPSC SO/ Steno 2022 Recruitment Process

The recruitment for the post of SO/Steno will be done through a CLDC Exam i.e. Combined Limited Departmental Competitive Exam. The recruitment of Section Officers and Stenographers will be based on the following criteria:

  1. To apply for the recruitment exam of UPSC SO/ Steno, aspirants must have some prior work experience in the requisite field.
  2. All the eligible and interested aspirants will have to undergo an offline written examination and then a shorthand test in English/ Hindi.
  3. All those aspirants who satisfy and qualify for the above stages will have to face an evaluation procedure of the service record.

UPSC SO/STENO 2022 Application Process

The application form for UPSC SO/ STENO 2022 will going to release from 22 September 2022 to 04 October 2022. All the aspirants will get access to fill the form in online mode only on the official website of UPSC. All the aspirants are advised to fill the form correctly because the authority will not be going to give you any chance to correct the filled details. After filling and submitting the application form before the last date, aspirants must have to take a printout of the form and have to submit it to the HoD of the Commission.

How to fill UPSC SO/Steno 2022 Application Form?

There are a total of 6 steps to fill and submit the online application form. Here we have provided step-by-step procedure to apply for UPSC SO/STENO 2022.

Step 1. Registration

  • First of all, visit the official webpage of UPSC and then click on the registration link for UPSC SO/ STENO 2022.
  • After opening the link, fill in all the required details as asked to fill like Name, Address, Phone no., email address, etc.
  • After filling in all the details, submit the registration form.

Step 2. Login ID

  • After the successful registration, all the aspirants will receive a different Login ID and Password on their mail id or registered phone no.

Step 3. Filling the application form

  • Now, log in with the provided credentials.
  • After login, aspirants have to choose a proper category of posts for which they are going to apply.
  • Fill in all the necessary and required details as asked in the application form such as Name, Contact No., Email, Parental Information, Educational qualification, Permanent address, Category, etc.

Step 4. Uploading documents

  • After filling the application form, aspirants have to upload all the supporting documents in the prescribed format.
  • List of documents needed while filling the application form and some of them to be uploaded as required.
    1. A Recent Passport size photograph
    2. Permanent Signature
    3. Category Certificate
    4. Qualifying exam degree/mark sheet.

Step 5. Fee Payment

  • After filling the application form, aspirants have to pay the category-wise required application fee.
  • The application fee will be debited in online mode (via various online payment methods) and in offline mode as well.
  • The payable application fee of UPSC Steno/SO 2022 is Rs 100/- only.

Step 6. Submission and printout

  • After filling the application form and making payment of the application fee, aspirants have to download and take two printouts of the application form and fee receipt. Keep one copy safely, for future references.
  • Another hard copy of the application form and fee receipt will have to be submitted to the Head of Department (HoD)/ Head of Office of the Commission.

UPSC SO/STENO 2022 Eligibility

The required eligibility criteria for the post of UPSC SO/STENO under different categories and different services are given below:

  • If aspirants are selected via LDCE, then the LCD Exam must be conducted after 5 years from the crucial date.

  • Aspirants must have at least three years of regularized experience in PA (Personal Assistant) Grade in ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation).

Note: A shorthand test will be held for aspirants in the English / Hindi language. This test will be held to test the writing speed of 100 words per minute for 10 minutes of the aspirants and after this test, they will get 55 and 45 minutes for Hindi and English writing tests respectively.For illegible handwriting, 5% marks will be deducted out of total writing marks.

UPSC SO/STENO 2022 Exam Center

UPSC SO/STENO exam is a nation-wide exam and it will be organized in different 5 states of the country. Aspirants will have an option to choose their examination center according to their preference. The name of the different cities in which the exam will be organized is given as follow.

UPSC SO/STENO 2022 Result

After appearing for the exam, aspirants will be able to download the UPSC SO/STENO result/scorecard for the same. It’s conducting body i.e. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) will release the result on its official website. No hard copy of the scorecard/ result will be sent to the passed aspirants, they have to download the result in online mode on the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in. All the aspirants who will be shortlisted, have to undergo the evaluation process of the allotted/chosen services. The final result for recruitment will be announced on the basis of the selection process. The UPSC will release the merit list based on the aspirant’s aggregate marks given for each paper.

UPSC SO/STENO 2022 Selection Procedure

The selection process for UPSC SO/STENO will be based on the offline written exam and evaluation procedure of the service.
