TISSNET 2021 – Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test


Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts a National Entrance Test (NET) exam known as TISSNET.

TATA Institute of Social Science has announced TISS National Eligibility Test result.

TISSNET 2021 is a 1 hour and 40 minutes paper.

The exam is conducted for all Masters programmes offered in TISS campuses at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati, IMHST Chennai, MHAT Calicut and G-SET Ranchi.

The exam was organized in 39 centres, across India.

To secure a seat in the Institute, the candidates first have to appear for the written examination.

TISS does not offer an MBA programme.

Instead, it offers MA in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations (HRM & LR) programme at its Mumbai campus.

It also offers various other Masters degrees.

Those who will qualify it will be called for the TISSNET 2021 Pre-Interview Test and finally will be required to get through the Personal Interview round.

TISSNET 2021 Application Form

To acquire the offline application form, the candidates will have to send a request with the application fee, through Speed Post, at the address mentioned in TISSNET 2021 notification.

To submit the online application form, the candidates will have to access the link which will be mentioned on this page and then follow the steps below:

The institute is likely to provide the facility of offline application form for those candidates who live in remote areas and do not have access to technology.

Through a single application form, the candidates will able to apply for three M.A. courses of their choice.

  • Lastly, the candidates will have to submit the application fee.

TISSNET 2021 Application Fee

The fee amount will be around Rs. 1030 for the General Category and Rs. 250 for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL Category. The amount could be submitted online or through cash.

Candidates who will seek offline application form need to submit the fee amount through Demand Draft (DD).

TISSNET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for TISSNET 2021:

  • There’s no age limit for TISSNET exam.
  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years duration) or equivalent from a recognized university is eligible to apply.
  • At the time of applying, candidates studying in three-year degree programmes should have passed all subjects from first to fourth semesters; while candidates studying in four-year degree programmes should have passed in all subjects for first to the sixth semester.
  • Only those candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by the first week of June 2020 are eligible to apply to all the programme.

TISSNET 2021 Exam Pattern

The National written exam will be of  100 marks and the components of it will be as below:

Question Type: The questions asked in the examination will be of Multiple Choice Type.

Questions: In all, there will be 100 questions asked on the exam.

Negative Marking: No negative marking.

Duration: The exam will be of 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Mode of Examination: The exam will be held in Computer Based Mode.

TISSNET 2021 Syllabus

LR Topics: Number series, Alphabet series, Eye for detail, Statement conclusion/ assumption/arguments, Logical connectivity, Linear/ circular/family arrangement, Venn diagram, Puzzles, Cubes.

DI Topics: Bar graph, Tables, Pie chart, Double pie chart, Case lets, Multiple graphs, Line graphs, Data comparison.

Mathematics: Profit and loss, Averages, Basic geometry, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages.

VA: Antonyms, Analogies, Odd word out, Word substitute in a sentence, Right usage of words in fill in the blank, Right usage of word in match the following, Fill in the blanks – homophones, Idioms – fill in the blank, Idioms – match the following, Error spotting – grammar/words/punctuation, Sentence correction.

RC: Purpose of the passage, Strengthen and weaken, Assumption and supporting the statement, Flaw, and discrepancy, Inference, and the conclusion drawn, Passage-based questions, Author’s point of view, the Main idea of the passage.

GA: Environment and ecology, Politics / history / governance / law, Economy / policy, International politics / current events, Gender / health / education, Labour, Media / ICTs / literature, art / culture, Sports.

TISSNET 2021 Admit Card

The admit card will be available online on the official website of TISS and candidates will also receive a link to their registered email ID to access the same.

Once the admit card has been printed, candidates must check all the details mentioned on it. The details that need to be checked are:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Registration number
  • Category
  • Location
  • Date of exam
  • Time of exam
  • Exam centre name & address
  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Instructions related to the exam

The steps to access the admit card are mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website of TISS
  • Click on the ‘Admit Card’ tab
  • The candidate will get redirected to a login page
  • Here, the candidate needs to enter the e-mail ID and password
  • The admit card will appear on the screen
  • Take a printout of the admit card

If any details are missing or are incorrect, the same needs to be reported immediately to the authorities.

In case a candidate does not receive the admit card by the second week of January 2021, he/she must request for a duplicate TISSNET admit card at the earliest.

TISSNET 2021 Result

Here, the details for TISSNET 2021 result are mentioned:

  • Along with the result, TISS will also release Scorecard, Merit List, and Wait List.
  • The TISSNET 2021 Scorecard will also be provided through the login.
  • The candidates will be able to access it by submitting the above-mentioned details.
  • The result of TISS NET 2021 will be announced through an online portal.
The candidates will be able to access it by submitting the following details:
  • Register E-mail Id
  • Password

Along with the result, TISS will also release Scorecard, Merit List, and Wait List.

  • The TISSNET 2021 Scorecard will also be provided through the login.
  • The candidates will be able to access it by submitting the above-mentioned details.
  • The merit list will be released as a PDF. It will be published separately for all the 5 campuses of TISS.
  • It will contain the Registration Number and Name of the candidates, who will be called for the first round of admission.
  • The Institute will release multiple wait list.
  • It will contain names of those qualified candidates, who might be called for next round of admission if seats remain vacant.
  • Unlike the merit list, it will not be released as PDF and could be checked by accessing the TISSNET 2021 Login.
  • For the preparation of merit list, the weightage to NET, PIT and PI will be – 40%, PIT – 30%, PI – 30%.
  • The selection of the candidates will be done will be done on the basis of Written Examination, Pre-Interview Test (PTI), and Personal Interview (PI).

The weightage to these will be provided as below:

National Common Written Test: 100 Marks

Pre-Interview Test/GD: 50 Marks

Personal Interview: 75 Marks
