PPSC PCS Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates applying for the PPSC exam should review the eligibility requirements before submitting an application for the PPSC exam 2024. The Punjab Public Service Commission holds various examinations to select the most deserving, eligible, and qualified candidates for State Services and other government administrative positions.

  • The commission will decide to recruit candidates for certain vacancies in various posts through the PPSC PCS Exam.
  • Before applying for this exam, make sure you meet all of the requirements, including nationality, age, educational background, and so on.
  • If you do not meet the notification’s requirements, your application will be rejected.

Candidates interested in applying for the position must ensure that they meet the PPSC PSC Age Criteria before applying. Applicants who meet all of the requirements are eligible to apply for the positions. Nationality, age, education, and other factors are used to determine eligibility. PPSC 2024 Age Limit

The following is detailed information about the PPSC age limit, including exceptions:

  • The minimum age limit for applying for the PPSC exam is 21 years before 1st January 2024.
  • The maximum age limit for applying for the PPSC exam is 37 years before 1st January 2024.

Who is Eligible to Avail a Scribe for the PPSC Exam?

Only candidates with the following disability are eligible for a scribe:

  • Blind: Those who are blind have one or both of the following conditions: Complete blindness. With correcting lenses, visual acuity in the better eye should not exceed 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen). A 20-degree or worse angle in the field of vision is a limitation.
  • Candidates with Locomotor Dysfunction and Cerebral Palsy in which the dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the point of slowing function performance (minimum of 40% impairment). The Scribe should not have a 10+2 academic qualification.
  • Persons with disabilities must submit the following documents in person to the PPSC office 30 days prior to the written examination.
  • Disability Certificate from the Civil Surgeon’s Office.
  • Affidavit registered as per the specimen attached for the provision of a scribe.

Note: Candidates who applied for a scribe will be given extra time (20 minutes per hour)..


PPSC 2024 Educational Qualification

The following are the detailed PPSC educational qualification eligibility criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution is required of the candidate.
  • While pursuing the qualifying degree, the candidate may be permitted to take a preliminary examination. However, in order to be eligible to take the Main Competitive Examination that year, the candidate must show proof of completion of the degree course.
  • No candidate shall be eligible to sit for the Preliminary Competitive Examination unless he or she has passed the Matriculation Examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or any other equivalent Punjabi language examination as determined by the Government from time to time.
  • The expression “recognised university” or “institution” shall have the same meaning as it is defined in the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994, for the purpose of exam eligibility.

PPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024 Nationality

  • A candidate should be a:
    • Indian Citizenship Holder
    • A subject of Nepal
    • A Subject of Bhutan
    • Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently in India.
    • A person of Indian origin who has moved to India permanently from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania, as well as Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.
  • Except for candidates of Indian nationality, a candidate must be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Competent Authority as notified by the Punjab Civil Services Commission.

PPSC 2024 Application Process

The following are the detailed instructions for applying online for the Punjab Public Service Commission 2024:

  • Go to https://www.ppsc.gov.in/ to access the official website.
  • Select ‘Punjab State Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination-2024′. 
  • Select Apply Online from the drop-down menu.
  • Fill out the application form completely. To register successfully, make sure you have a valid email address and a phone number.
  • Upload a scanned passport-sized photo and a signature that is less than 40KB in size.
  • You’ll be directed to the payment link after filling out all of the credentials.
  • Payment must be made in the form of a challan.
  • For a successful application submission, print the challan and make payment to your nearest SBI branch.

PPSC PCS Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates studying for the PPSC exam 2024 will follow a detailed exam pattern established by the board. The stages are currently divided into three categories: prelims, mains, and interview examination. The Punjab Public Service Commission holds various examinations to select the most deserving, eligible, and qualified candidates for State Services and other government administrative positions.

  • The State Service Exam is divided into three stages: preliminary examinations, main examinations, and an interview round.
  • Students must ensure that they are completely familiar with the PPSC exam pattern 2024 as they prepare for the examination. Candidates must pass all three stages of the exam to be hired by the Punjab Public Service Commission.
  • Candidates will get an idea of the overall question paper and topics that will be asked in the examination with the help of the PPSC exam pattern 2024.

There are three stages to the PPSC State Service Exam. Candidates who pass the first stage are considered eligible to move on to the second. Candidates who pass the second stage of the PPSC 2024 are considered eligible for the third stage. Candidates are encouraged to study the exam pattern in order to better prepare for the exam. The following are the three stages of the PPSC exam:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination

PPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The Preliminary Examination is only a screening test to identify candidates who will be eligible to take the Main Examination, and the marks earned in this Exam will not be used to determine the merit of candidates who will be chosen after the Main Examination. Candidates who appear in the Preliminary Examination for the Main Examination must be 13 times the number of vacancies advertised in each category. The standard of questions would be to test the knowledge that would be expected of someone who has completed at least a high school education. Both of the papers in the PPSC Prelims Examination are listed in the table below.

Paper I

  • Paper I consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) about general studies.
  • There are 100 questions for a total of 200 marks.
  • Each question carries a two-mark weighting.
  • Negative marking may be applied to any objections to the Answer Key that are found to be false, frivolous, or not supported by authentic evidence.
  • Except for questions where candidates’ language proficiency is to be tested, the question paper will be bilingual and printed in English and Punjabi.

Paper-II

  • Paper-II is a multiple-choice (MCQ) test based on the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).
  • There are 80 questions totaling 200 marks.
  • Each question carries a 2.5-mark weighting.

  • Except for questions where candidates’ language proficiency is to be tested, the question paper will be bilingual and printed in English and Punjabi.

Those who pass the Prelims will be invited to the Mains exam. Candidates who have taken the Main written examination will be chosen, the candidate will called maximum three times of the vacant posts. The mains exam pattern for the PPSC is as follows:

  • The nature of all papers is to be descriptive.
  • Seven compulsory papers will be included in the main competitive examination.
  • Candidates will have the option of taking all of the papers in Punjabi or English, with the exception of the language papers.
  • Candidates who have chosen to answer the questions In addition to the Punjabi language version, papers in the Punjabi language may include an English version within brackets of only the technical terms, if any.
  • The question papers, with the exception of the language papers, will be written in English. However, if a candidate chooses to take any of the papers in Punjabi, the question papers will be printed in Punjabi as well.

PPSC Exam Pattern 2024- Interview

Only those who have passed the written exam and meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to an interview. The maximum score for the interview will be 150. The final merit list will take into account the marks obtained in the interview as well as the marks obtained in the written exam.

Note: No candidate will be allowed to appear in the interview unless he or she receives a total of 45 percent in all of the papers (40 percent for candidates from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes), with at least 25 percent in each paper.

Punjab Civil Service Syllabus for Environmental studies:

  • Composition and structure of the atmosphere. Solar system – heat balance & temperature. Atmospheric circulation & weather system, water cycle. Punjab Civil Service Syllabus for Indian Economy:

Punjab Civil Service Exam Syllabus 2024 – Prelims Paper 2 (Civil Services Aptitude Test)

Punjab Civil Service Mains Syllabus 2024

The PPSC Main Exam consists of seven papers: English, Essay, Punjabi, General Studies I, II, III, and IV, as well as General Studies I, II, III, and IV. The total number of marks on the paper is 1350. The following is a list of the PPSC Mains Syllabus:

The General Essay Section will be worth 150 marks in total. Candidates will be required to write three short essays on specified topics in English or Punjabi. Subjects will be chosen from a list. Applicants will be expected to stay focused on the essay’s topic, organise their thoughts in a logical manner, and write concisely. The value of the content, as well as the effectiveness and precision with which it is expressed, will be rewarded.

1.4 Socio-religious reform movements with special reference to Punjab.

1.5 The Freedom Struggle – its various stages and important contributors /contributions from different parts of the country with special reference to Punjab.

1.6 Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country. 1.7 History of Punjab:
