OICL AO Syllabus & Pattern 2023: Every year, the Oriental Insurance Company (OICL) Limited holds a competitive exam to hire Administrative Officers (AO), and this year will be no exception. Prelims, Mains, and Interview are the three stages of the OICL AO Exam. The Prelims are objective, whereas the Mains include both objective and descriptive tests.

OICL AO Syllabus 2021: Syllabus for Prelims and Mains
As previously stated, the OICL AO recruitment process is divided into three stages:
- Phase 1:Â OICL AO Preliminary Exam
- Phase 2:Â OICL AO Main Exam
- Phase 3:Â Personal Interview
Let’s take a look at the OICL Prelims and Mains Exam Pattern in detail. There are two types of OICL Administrative Officers to be aware of:
- OICL AO for Generalist Posts
- OICL AO for Specialist Posts
Both of these AO posts have the same OICL AO Prelims exam, but the OICL Mains exam is different.
OICL AO Exam Pattern For Prelims
The OICL AO Prelims is a multiple-choice exam that is objective in nature (MCQ). The Prelims are divided into three sections. These are listed in the table below. For each of these three sections, the number of questions and maximum marks are also provided.

The OICL AO Preliminary exam takes a total of 60 minutes to complete.
The purpose of the preliminary exam is to narrow down applicants for the main exam. The applicants’ grades will not be taken into account in the final choice of applicants. Applicants must, however, achieve the minimum qualifying marks for each section as well as the overall OICL AO Prelims cut off marks to be eligible to take the OICL Mains exam.
OICL AO Exam Pattern For Mains
There will be two parts to the OICL AO Mains exam: Objective and Descriptive. The objective test pattern for the OICL AO exam for Generalist and Specialist posts will be different.

All other sections will be conducted in English and Hindi, with the exception of the English Language section. The Objective Test has negative marking, with one-fourth of the marks deducted for incorrect answers.

OICL AO Exam Pattern: Personal Interview
Applicants who pass the OICL AO Mains Objective and Descriptive Tests will be invited for a Personal Interview. Candidates will be called for this round if there are three times as many vacancies as there are vacancies.
OICL AO Final Selection
Applicants will be chosen on merit, which is determined by the applicants’ combined marks in the OICL AO Main Exam Objective Test and Personal Interview. The Mains will receive 80% of the weighting, while the Personal Interview will receive 20%.
A Waiting List of not less than 50% of the total number of vacancies will also be created.
