The written test is the only stage of the KVPY exam for all three streams. Students who pass the KVPY exam will be eligible for direct admission to prestigious universities such as IISc and various IISERs. Previously, the KVPY consisted of two stages: an aptitude test and an interview. Candidates are invited to the interview process based on the results of the Aptitude Test. Students must pass both the Aptitude Test and the Interview to be considered for the scholarship. The Aptitude Test is worth 75% of the total score, while the Interview is worth 25%.

SX | Candidates must have at least a 75 percent aggregate in Mathematics and Science in their 10th grade, with a 65 percent aggregate for SC/PWD/ST candidates. Applicants must also pass the 10+2 Science and stream examination with a minimum of 60 percent in aggregate, and SC/PWD/ST with a minimum of 50 percent. |
SB | All students who have passed the XII board examination are eligible to take the aptitude test for KVPY 2021. Once selected as a provisional KVPY fellow, the student must produce a study certificate for 1st year B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. |
Candidates who meet the KVPY eligibility criteria for the particular stream can take the aptitude test. Candidates must meet the KVPY eligibility criteria before filling out the KVPY 2022 Application Form.

However, if the aspirants leave the Basic Science course (B.Sc/ B.S./ B. Stat./ B.Math./ Int. M.Sc./ M.S.) at any point, the KVPY fellowship will be terminated. This will apply to the Annual Contingency Grant as well.

All interested candidates must first review the above eligibility requirements before applying for the exam. To prepare for the exam, they should review the KVPY exam pattern and syllabus.
Each year, the minimum cutoff marks for KVPY are different. Candidates should look at previous year’s cutoffs to get an idea of the expected cutoff marks.
The number of attempts in KVPY is unlimited as long as the candidates meet all other eligibility requirements.
Only written tests will be used to qualify the candidates. Because of the Covid-19 situation, no interviews will be conducted for KVPY 2021-22. Candidates were previously called for the interview process based on the results of the Aptitude Test. The aptitude test was given a 75 percent weighting in the final selection, while the interview was given a 25 percent weighting.
