What is KTET Exam?

Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test, in short, is also known as Karnataka TET or KTET. It is one of the most popular exams among all those candidates who want to become a government or private teacher in the state of Karnataka.  Kerala State Education Board (KSEB) is responsible for conducting the Karnataka TET. This exam is conducted to test the teaching eligibility of candidates for Primary, Upper Primary, and Secondary Level classes.

To improve and enhance the standard of teaching, KSEB has been set up the exam pattern based on the National Curriculum Framework. This exam consists of four different papers, named Category-I, Category-II, Category-III, and Category-IV. Category-I is compulsory for those candidates who want to become a teacher for classes 1 -5, Category-II for classes 6- 8, Category- III for classes 9-10, and Category-IV for those who want to become a Language Teacher (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu ), Specialist teachers (Art and Craft) and Physical Education teachers.

KTET is conducted twice a year. The application form will be accepted in online mode while the examination will be held offline i.e. PPT based. The scorecard of KTET will be valid for up to 7 years just after the declaration date of the result.

KTET 2024 Application Process

The online application process of the KTET 2024 will start after the official notification of KTET 2024. Interested and eligible candidates will able to fill this form once the application process will start. So candidates are advised to keep their documents ready before filling the application form.

How to fill the KTET 2024 Application Form?

Before filling the form candidates have to download the information brochure released by the officials of KSEB. The steps to fill the online application form are given below, candidates should have to follow the same procedure.

  1. Go to the official website of KTET i.e. ktet.kerala.gov.in
  2. On the homepage find the tab/link for the “New Registration”.
  3. Open the tab/link and read all the procedures carefully and do agree to proceed next.
  4. Now fill in all the required details such as name, contact number, religion, gender, communication address, and qualification details as per the requirement needed to fill the form.
  5. After filling in the details, candidates have to upload a clear and recent passport size photograph in .jpeg format as prescribed in the official notification.
  6. At the end of the procedure, candidates have to pay the required application fee according to their category.
  7. Take a printout of the duly filled application form and fee receipt for future references.

KTET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

It is very necessary to check the eligibility criteria before filling any application form because if you do not meet all the required eligibility then your candidature will be canceled later. So download the notification brochure and read all the required eligibility for different categories then do apply if you are eligible.

Educational Qualification

Lower Primary Teachers (Category-I)

  • Candidates must have acquired at least 45% marks in Class 12th or equivalence recognized by Kerala Board of Examination+ 2-year Trained Teacher’s Certificate

OR,

  • Candidates must have acquired at least 45% marks in Class 12th or equivalence + 2-years D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) course with regards to Rules and Regulations, 2002 of NCTE.

OR,

  • Candidates must have acquired at least 50% marks in Class 12th or equivalence + 4-years B.El.Ed (Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education) course.

OR,

  • Candidates must have acquired at least 50% marks in Class 12th or equivalence + 2-year Diploma in Special Education.

Upper Primary Teachers (Category-II)

  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in B.SC/B.Com/BA recognized by Kerala Board of Education, or equivalent+ 2-years D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education)/Teacher’s Training Certificate.

OR

  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in B.SC/B.Com/BA  + 1-year B.Ed Degree with regards to Rules and regulations of NCTE.

OR

  • Candidates must have acquired at least 50% marks in Class 12th or equivalence + 4-years B.El.Ed (Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education) course.

OR

  • Candidates must have at least 50% marks in Higher Secondary + B.A/B.Sc or B.Sc B.Ed or B.A B.Ed.

High School Class Teachers (Category-III)

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 45% marks in Bachelor’s degree (BA/B.Sc/B.Com) + 2-years B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject from the any recognized University of Kerala.

OR,

  • Candidates should have M.Sc.Ed. degree (in Maths/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Botany/ Zoology ) with a minimum of 50% marks from any regional institute of education recognized by NCERT.

OR,

  • Candidates who have acquired at least 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree and have passed LTTC can apply.

Language Teachers (Category-IV)

  • For category-IV, only those candidates can apply who have all the necessary qualifications required for the post of Language teachers of Hindi, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Urdu.
  • Those candidates who have required qualifications (as given in Chapter XXXI) with regards to the rules and regulations of the Kerala Education Act, can apply for Specialist/ Physical Education teachers

Note: 5% relaxation will be given to the SC/ST category candidates while 3% for OBC/OEC.


KTET 2024 Exam Pattern

Before appearing for the exam, it is very important to know about the pattern of the paper. KTET consists of 4 papers (not all compulsory), in this exam pattern for all the papers are almost the same but the content and no. of sections of the paper are different from each other.   • Mode of Exam: Offline Mode
  • Number of Papers: 4 (i.e. Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 3 and Paper 4)
  • Total Questions: 150 Questions (for each paper)
  • Type of Questions: MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Total Marks: 150 Marks (for each paper)
  • Duration of Exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (for each paper)
  • Marking Scheme: +1 marks will be allotted for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: No negative markings will be there.

KTET Exam Pattern (Category-I)

Candidates who are going to appear for Lower Primary Teachers (for classes 1-5) will have to follow the paper pattern of Category-I. You will find 5 sections in this pattern comprised of 150 questions (30 questions from each section).

How to Download?

  • Go to the official website of KTET i.e. ktet.kerala.gov.in.
  • Find the link ‘Admit Card/Hall Ticket Download’ to download the KTET admit card/Hall Ticket.
  • Now enter the required credentials such as Application Number/ ID and category for which you have applied, and then click on the submit button.
  • Your hall ticket will appear on the monitor screen.
  • Now you can download the hall ticket and you must take a print out for future references.

KTET 2024 Answer Key

The provisional answer key for KTET will be released after some days of examination. The answer key will be released by the officials of exam conducting authority of KTET on the official website

Candidates can download the answer key which will available in PDF format. Candidates are suggested to download the answer key and match every answer with their answers marked by them in the examination. It will help to calculate the approximate marks.

KTET 2024 Result

KTET 2024 Cutoff

Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan setups the cut off of Karnataka TET based on some standards. Candidates will able to check the cutoff after the official release. Candidates have to secure minimum cutoff marks to clear this exam if they do not meet the minimum cut off then they will get disqualified from that current examination. The minimum cut off required to clear this exam is different for different category candidates.
