IES Eligibility – Nationality
Aspirants for the UPSC IES Exam should be aware that the following nationals are eligible to apply:
Candidates must be one of the following:
- A citizen of India, a subject of Bhutan, a subject of Nepal, or a Tibetan exile who went to India with the aim of settling permanently in India before January 1, 1962.
- A person of Indian heritage who moved to India permanently from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam.

IES Age Limit
According to the UPSC IES Age Restriction Criteria, the lower age limit is 21 years and the upper age limit is 30 years.
- The candidate must have been born between January 02, 1990, and January 01, 1999.
- By January 1, 2020, candidates applying for IES 2022 must meet the IES Age Eligibility requirements.
- Those who have served in any government organisation will have their upper age restriction reduced by 5 years.
- According to UPSC, any government official seeking IES/ ESE shall be granted age relaxation even if they are already employed in a higher officer cadre position.
- Those who have worked for any government organisation on a contract basis for three years or more are eligible for an age reduction.
- The contract-based service will be counted until January 1, 2020.
- SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Ex-servicemen, and candidates from Jammu & Kashmir would obtain a 5-year age exemption on the maximum age limit.

IES Educational Qualifications Requirements
Educational qualification from IES The UPSC standards state that the applicant must have passed one of the following tests:
- must hold an engineering degree from a recognised institution with a minimum % of necessary.
- Sections A and B of the Institutions of Engineers must be cleared (India).
- achieved an Engineering degree/diploma from a foreign university/college/institution, and the certificate is considered comparable to the degree earned in India.
- passed the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers’ Graduate Membership Examination (India).
- passed the Aeronautical Society of India’s Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B.
- In November 1959, he passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers in London.
IES Education Criteria exceptions:
- If a candidate has passed UPSC IES but has not yet received the final examination results, he or she will be allowed only if the final mark sheet is submitted during the UPSC selection process.
- A candidate who has passed the UPSC IES exam but holds a degree from a foreign university that is not considered equal to Indian educational norms may be chosen. In this scenario, the decision is made at the discretion of the UPSC selection committee.
- If an applicant does not have an engineering degree but has passed the IES exam, they will be considered for the position if their degree meets the engineering degree’s qualifications.
UPSC IES Eligibility 2022 – Physical Standards
Candidates who desire to apply for this test in the near future must meet the physical requirements in terms of height, chest measurement (male and female), and vision in order to be admitted to the UPSC IES Examination 2021.

IES Eligibility- Medical Examination Standards
- Medical examinations are required of all candidates, regardless of IES reservation requirements.
- The applicant must pass a series of physical fitness tests as part of the application procedure.
- All candidates must pass the standards, regardless of whether they have previously taken the exam.
- The UPSC-defined medical test will take place at various Railway hospitals.
- The schedule for the medical examination, as well as the candidate’s final status, will be posted on Indian Railways’ official website, indianrailways.gov.in.
- Candidates must bring three sets of forms for the Medical Board Report 2022, which can be acquired from the Indian Railways’ official website.
- A genuine government-issued photo ID card and three passport-size pictures must be carried at all times.
- Candidates who fall under the PwD category must bring an original Disability Certificate in the format given, as well as a photocopy of the same.
