IBPS PO Selection Process 2024: Written test, Interview, & Final Selection

IBPS PO Selection Process 2024: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview Round are the three steps of the IBPS PO 2024 Selection Procedure. Although the IBPS PO application form is the same for all three phases, distinct admit cards are issued for each exam.

Candidates who pass the preliminary exam will be eligible to take the main exam. Candidates can use Kirtan Buhecha’s tactics to ace the IBPS PO Exam in 6 months when preparing for the exam. To be eligible for the Mains, they must achieve the appropriate cutoff in the preliminary exam.

IBPS PO 2024 Selection Procedure

Prelims, Mains, and interviews are the three stages of the IBPS PO 2024 selection process. Candidates who pass the previous levels will be eligible for the subsequent ones. Interview qualifiers will eventually be hired as Probationary Officers by participating banks. Candidates must achieve the minimum needed IBPS PO cutoff at each level of the selection process.

It’s worth noting that the Preliminary Exam scores aren’t included while determining the final merit list. The final selection of candidates is based only on the results of the Main Exam and Interview, in the ratio of 80:20. To be eligible for Provisional Allotment, candidates must appear in all three phases and pass them all.

IBPS PO 2024 Preliminary Exam

The IBPS PO 2024 preliminary examination is planned for October 2024. An online test with three elements is included in the exam pattern: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.

  • Exam time is 60 minutes (20 minutes for each section)
  • The total number of questions: 100 (35 for quantitative aptitude, 35 for reasoning ability, and 30 for the English language).
  • 100 points in total (1 mark per question)
  • Multiple-choice questions (Multiple Type Questions)

To pass the Preliminary exam, candidates must meet both sectional and overall cutoffs. As a result, they should check the Prelims Syllabus before beginning their preparations.

IBPS PO 2024 Main Exam

The IBPS PO Main Exam is held both online and offline. There is an objective paper and a descriptive paper, according to the IBPS PO Mains Syllabus provided by the authorities. English Language, Data Interpretation and Analysis, Reasoning and Computer Awareness, and General/ Banking and Economy Awareness are the four areas of the exam. There are only two questions on the Descriptive Paper: an essay and a letter.

  • The exam time is 210 minutes. (180 pages objective, 30 pages descriptive)

IBPS PO 2024 Interview

The IBPS PO 2024 Interview Round is the final phase in the selection process.

  • The interview will be worth 100 points.
  • It will be a one-on-one encounter that will take place in offline mode only.
  • The participating and nodal banks in each state will organise interviews.
  • In the interview, candidates’ personality qualities and communication abilities are assessed.
  • To be eligible for IBPS PO, aspirants must score 40% (35 per cent for reserved candidates). It is critical that candidates are well-prepared and have developed tactics for the interview process.

Documents Required for IBPS PO 2024 Interview

Candidates must submit the originals of the following documents, as well as self-attested photocopies, to prove their eligibility for IBPS PO 2024.

  • Graduation Mark-sheets/ Degree/ Certificates or similar qualification results dated on or before August 2024 IBPS PO Admit Card
  • The appropriate authority issues a caste certificate in the format defined by the Government of India. The non-creamy layer must be indicated on the caste certificate of the OBC group.
  • For EWS category candidates, relevant agencies of the Government of India provide an Income and Asset Certificate in the required format.
  • The District Medical Board issues a disability certificate in the appropriate format for PWDs.
  • If the candidate has hired the services of a scribe, the scribe’s details must be filled out properly in the approved format.
  • Ex-servicemen must submit a copy of their service or discharge book, a pension payment order, and documentary verification of rank held.
  • Candidates who are already serving in the military must produce a document from a competent authority stating that they will be discharged on or before August 2024.
  • Candidates working for the government, quasi-government agencies, public sector undertakings, nationalized banks, and financial institutions must present a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer.
  • Those who are eligible for an age reduction because they are from Jammu and Kashmir must show proof of residency.
  • Those eligible for age relaxation as a result of the 1984 riots must present a certificate from the District Magistrate attesting to this.

Issuing Authorities for Reserved Category Candidates

Candidates asking for and obtaining relief under various reserved categories, such as SC/SC/OBC/PwD, must get the necessary certificates from the government-designated authorities.

Any other authority’s certificates would be regarded as invalid. The authorities responsible for document issuing are given in the table below.

IBPS PO Final Selection Process

The final merit list of selected candidates is prepared by IBPS using the marks acquired in the mains examination and interview round of the IBPS PO selection process. The merit list is compiled using the combined results of the Mains exam and the interview phase. The weighting of marks gained in the main examination is greater than that obtained in the interview round. To arrive at the final result, the online mains examination and interview will be weighted 80:20.

IBPS will announce the final cut off for various categories on a specific date. Candidates who meet the final cut-off will be considered for a probationary officer position with one of the participating banks. The final cutoff is determined by the number of openings available as well as each candidate’s maximum score.

IBPS PO 2024 Provisional Allotment

Candidates who pass all phases of the recruiting process and meet all eligibility criteria will be provisionally assigned to participating banks.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be provisionally assigned to vacancies reported by participating organizations based on merit-cum-preference.
  • Tie Breaking: If two or more candidates have the same score, the older candidate will be ranked higher than the younger candidate.
  • While making the allotment, the Government of India’s reservation policy and other rules and regulations, as well as administrative exigencies, shall be observed.
  • The temporary assignment is contingent on the candidate meeting the Participating Organization criteria and having their identity verified to the satisfaction of the assigned organisation.
  • No requests for changes will be considered because the provisional allocation is provided to participating organisations based on merit cum choice.
  • Furthermore, if a candidate who has been provisionally assigned does not accept the Participating Organization’s offer of employment, his candidature will be cancelled.
  • The Participating Organizations’ decision to issue an offer of appointment, including terms and conditions, requirements for verification, joining, and so on, is final and binding.
  • Depending on candidate availability, a reserve list of up to 10% of the openings in each category may be created.
  • If Participating Organizations create additional positions between April 2024 and March 2024, candidates from the reserve list will be provisionally assigned.
  • The reserve list will automatically expire on March 31, 2024, with no warning.
  • IBPS’s decision on provisional organisation allotment shall be final and binding on the shortlisted candidates.
  • However, depending on the circumstances, IBPS reserves the right to cancel, reallot Organization-wise allocations, or amend the process.
  • IBPS PO Recruitment is an all-India cadre, and applicants may be placed anywhere in India or outside India at the discretion of the participating organisation.

AFCAT 2024 FAQs

Q1. Will I need to fill out a separate form for the Main exam?

Ans. No, only one form would be sufficient. If you pass the preliminary exam, you will receive a call letter (or admission card) for the main exam without having to fill out any more paperwork.

Q2. How will I receive the call letter?

Ans. No call letters or admit cards will be mailed. Your admission card must be downloaded from the official website. You may be notified when admission cards for selection are available, however, it is best to continue visiting the website.

Q3. I belong to OBC (Non-Creamy) Category; will I get any age relaxation for the exam?

Ans. Yes, NC OBC candidates would receive a three-year age limit relaxation, bringing their maximum age to 33 years. SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, ECOs, SSCOs (subject to conditions), 1984 riot victims, and J&K Domiciles (between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989) will also be given a 5-year reprieve. People with disabilities will be given a 10-year reprieve.

Q4. What is the minimum percentage required in graduation for applying for IBPS PO?

Ans. The notification does not specify a minimum % requirement. To apply for the exam, you must be a graduate.

Q5. Do I need to produce a caste certificate during the selection process?

Ans. A Caste Certificate is required for candidates who do not fall into the General Category. It is not required while filling out the form, but it is required later.

Q6. Is there any sectional cut off for selection?

Ans. Yes, along with the overall cutoff, you must clear the subsection cutoffs for each and every section.

Q7. When will the interviews take place?

Ans. Interviews are expected to take place throughout the months of January and February 2024.

Q8. If I clear the exam, by what time will I be allotted a bank?

Ans. Provisioning will be completed by April 2024.
