IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age, Physical Standards, Education & More

The eligibility criteria for the position of Clerk are determined by IBPS. The institute has created distinct eligibility criteria based on the candidate’s chosen nationality.

Candidates could download previous years’ papers for better understanding while preparing for the IBPS Clerk exam. Here is a summary of the Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Clerk candidates.

• The exam is divided into two parts: preliminary and main.
• IBPS Clerk application forms can only be filled out online at ibps.in, the organization’s official website.
• On December 19, 2021, a preliminary examination was held.
• On January 25, 2023, shortlisted candidates will take the IBPS Clerk Main test.
• Candidates must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from an Indian government-approved university.
• Candidates must be able to communicate in the language of the state in which they are applying.
• IBPS Clerk has a minimum age requirement of 20 years and a maximum age requirement of 28 years.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2023

Note: The eligibility requirements listed above are the minimum requirements for applying for the position. At the time of joining and any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS / Participating Organizations, candidates must produce the relevant documents in original and photocopy in support of their identity and eligibility – pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications, and so on – as indicated in their online application form.

IBPS Clerk 2023 Eligibility- Educational Qualification

1. IBPS Clerk Degree Eligibility: As of January 2023, a candidate must have a degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a Government of India accredited college/ university in order to pass the IBPS Clerk eligibility requirements. Candidates with any other recognised equivalent qualification by the Central Government are also eligible to apply.
2. Additional Requirements: A basic understanding of computers is required. Candidates must be able to operate as well as work with the computer system. Candidates must have completed the following: a. Computer Operations/ Language Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate: Candidates must have studied Computer/ Information Technology as one of their courses in high school, institute, or college.
3. Candidates must also be fluent in the language of the state to which they are applying. This means that candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the official language of the state or union territory where they are applying.
4. If the institution or university provides a CGPA or OGPA, candidates must convert it to a percentage, up to two decimal places, and fill out the application form accordingly.
5. The selected candidates must also submit a certificate that includes the university’s grade to percentage conversion rules as well as the student’s percentage of marks, and it must be signed by an appropriate authority.
6. Candidates from colleges/universities where a web certificate is issued or the result is published online must present a relevant document signed in original by the authorised authorities and clearly stating the candidate’s passing date.
7. In the online application, the candidate should compute their graduation percentage to the nearest two decimals. When a CGPA or OGPA is given, it must be converted to a percentage and entered into the online application. The candidate will be required to present a certificate from the proper authorities declaring, among other things, that the University’s rules for converting grades into percentages of marks earned by the candidate are followed.
8. Ex-servicemen who do not meet the requirements for the civil examination should be matriculated. Ex-servicemen who have completed at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union as of January 2023 and have received the Army Special Certificate of Education or an equivalent certificate in the Navy or Air Force. These certificates must be dated prior to January 20, 2023.

Computer Literacy/Knowledge

• Computer Literacy: Applicants must be familiar with computer systems. A legitimate certificate, degree, or certification in computer operations or information technology is required.
• Candidates must be familiar with computer systems’ operation and functionality.

IBPS Clerk 2023 Eligibility – Age Limit

• Another aspect that influences a candidate’s eligibility is their age.
• Candidates must be at least 20 years old to apply for the IBPS Clerk Exam, with a maximum age limit of 28 years.
• Although the age restrictions in the IBPS Clerk announcement are strict, there are exceptions for specific groups of persons.

• The upper age limit relaxation for SC, ST, and OBC applicants is granted on a cumulative basis, with just one of the remaining groups receiving age relaxation as specified above.
• Candidates in the General Category and the Economically Weaker (EWS) Category are also subject to the maximum age limit.
• Candidates requesting age relaxation must produce the necessary certificate(s) in original or copies at the time of application and at any subsequent step of the recruitment process as needed by IBPS / Participating Organization (s).
• Ex-Servicemen re-employed by the federal government are subject to the following rules, which also apply to Ex-Servicemen applicants taking the exam:
• Ex-Servicemen candidates who have already secured employment with the Central Government in Groups ‘C’ and ‘D’ will be eligible for the advantage of age relaxation as prescribed for Ex-Servicemen in order to secure another job with the Central Government in a higher grade or cadre.
• On the second occasion, such individuals will not be eligible for the benefit of reservation for Ex-Servicemen in Central Government employment.
• Candidates who are presently serving in the military and want to apply under the Ex-Servicemen category and whose date of completion of a specified period of engagement (SPE) is one year from the last date for online application submission, i.e. on or before January 2023, are eligible to apply.

IBPS Clerk 2023 Citizenship/ Nationality

An applicant must meet one of the following criteria:

• An Indian national, a Nepalese or Bhutanese citizen, or Tibetan refugees living in India.
• A person of Indian descent who has permanently settled in India after migrating from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (previously Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.
• Candidates from countries other than India must submit a certificate of eligibility provided by authorities recommended by the Indian government.

IBPS Clerk 2023 Reservation

Persons with baseline disabilities are entitled to Reservation, according to section 34 of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.” The position has been identified as suitable for people with the disabilities listed below, as defined in the Schedule of the RPWD Act 2016 and as published from time to time by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan).

• Please note that no change of category will be authorised after the online application has been submitted, and the result will be processed based on the category given in the online application, subject to Government of India restrictions in this regard.
• Simply applying for CRP and sitting in and getting shortlisted in the online examinations (Preliminary and Main) and/or subsequent processes does not guarantee that a candidate will be hired by one of the Participating Organizations.
• There will be no consideration of a candidate’s candidature in any category other than the one for which they applied.

The OC Category

Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy, and Acid Attack Victims are examples of people who are unable to do specific actions linked with the movement of self and object due to musculoskeletal or neurological system disease or both. Locomotor disability covers orthopedically challenged people who meet the following criteria:

• OAL – One arm and One leg affected
• OL- One leg affected (Right or Left)
• OA – One arm affected (Right or Left)
• BL – Both legs were affected but not the arms

People with OA and OAL should have normal bilateral hand function.

Leprosy Cured Person

It refers to someone who has been healed of leprosy but is still afflicted with:

• Loss of sensation in the hands and feet, as well as loss of sensation and persis in the eye and eyelids, but no visible abnormality;
• They have a visible deformity and paresis, yet their hands and feet are mobile enough to engage in typical economic activity.
• Extreme physical deformity, as well as advanced age, hinder him/her from engaging in any productive profession, and the term “leprosy cured” should be interpreted accordingly.

Cerebral Palsy

It refers to a set of non-progressive neurological diseases that affect bodily motions and muscle coordination and are caused by damage to one or more specific parts of the brain before, during, or immediately after birth.

Dwarfism

It refers to a physical or genetic disease that causes an adult height of fewer than 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimetres);

Acid Attack Victims

It refers to a person who has been disfigured by acid or another corrosive substance thrown at them.

Visual Impairment (“VI” Category)

Only people who are visually impaired (VI) and suffer from one or more of the following conditions are eligible to apply.

Blindness

• Total blindness; OR
• Visual acuity in the better eye of less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen) with the best possible correction; OR
• The field of vision is restricted to an angle of fewer than 10 degrees. OR

Low Vision

• With the greatest available adjustments, visual acuity in the better eye is less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen); OR
• The field of vision is limited to an angle of fewer than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees.

Hearing Impaired (“HI” Category)

Deaf

It denotes a hearing loss of 70 decibels in both ears at conversation frequencies.

Hard of Hearing

It denotes a hearing loss of 60 to 70 decibels in speech frequencies in both ears.

“ID” Category

Only people with one of the following disabilities are eligible to apply in this category:

Intellectual Disability

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects a person’s capacity to communicate, understand relationships, and relate to others, and is sometimes coupled with strange stereotyped habits or behaviours. It usually appears in the first three years of life.
• Perceptual disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and developmental aphasia are examples of specific learning disabilities (SLDs). SLDs are a heterogeneous group of conditions in which there is a deficit in processing language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself as a difficulty to comprehend, speak, read, write, spelling, or doing mathematical calculations.
• A substantial disorder of thinking, mood, perception, orientation, or memory that grossly impairs judgement, behaviour, capacity to recognise reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life is defined as mental illness (MI), but it does not include retardation, which is a condition of arrested or incomplete development of the mind of a person, particularly characterised by intelligence subnormality.
• Multiple handicaps

Reservations would be available only to those with qualifying disabilities. “Benchmark disability” refers to a person who has at least 40% of a specified disability that has not been defined in measurable terms, as well as people who have a disability that has been described in measurable terms and has been certified by the certifying body. A person seeking reservation must provide a disability certificate obtained by a competent body in accordance with Government of India criteria. Such a certificate will be subject to verification / re-verification by the relevant authority as determined.

According to vacancies submitted to IBPS by Participating Organizations, reserved openings for persons with qualifying disabilities will be allocated as prescribed in “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.”

Guidelines for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities using a Scribe

Candidates who are visually challenged or whose writing speed is permanently hampered for whatever reason might hire their own scribe at their own expense. The following rules will apply in all circumstances where a scribe is used:

• The candidate will be responsible for hiring his or her own scribe.
• Any academic discipline can be represented by the scribe.
• Both the candidate and the scribe must sign an appropriate undertaking verifying that the scribe meets all of the above-mentioned scribe eligibility requirements.
• Furthermore, regardless of the outcome of the CRP, the applicant’s candidature will be cancelled if it is later discovered that he or she did not meet any of the established eligibility criteria or omitted material facts.
• For each hour of the examination, applicants who utilised a scribe will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes or as otherwise recommended.
• The scribe chosen by the candidate should not be eligible to take the online exam (CRP-Clerks-IX).
• Only candidates who have registered for compensatory time will be eligible for such concessions. Because compensatory time is system-based, the test conducting agency will not be able to grant such time if the candidate has not registered.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2023 – Important Points

• Candidates must present original and photocopied documents to prove their identity and eligibility, including documents proving their category, nationality, age, educational qualifications, and so on.
• Candidates cannot, under any circumstances, modify their category once they have registered.
• Due to their merit, candidates may be shortlisted in the preliminary examination. It doesn’t imply that they are employed. They must complete the entire process and overcome the obstacles one by one.
• No request or application to consider the candidature under a category other than the one with which it is registered will be considered.
