IB ACIO Pattern 2022: Every year, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issues a recruitment notice for the positions of Intelligence Bureau Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (IB ACIO) Grade-II/ Executive. The MHA has announced numerous vacancies for IB ACIO Grade-II positions. Candidates for the aforementioned positions will be chosen based on their performance in the Tier-I (online written exam), Tier-II (descriptive exam), and Tier-III (interview) examinations.

Exam Pattern For IB ACIO 2022

Candidates must pass all three phases of the written examination, namely Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III. The exam pattern for the IB ACIO 2022 Exam is provided in the table below:

Tier-I Exam pattern

According to the latest IB ACIO syllabus, the Tier-I of the IB ACIO 2022 Exam will be an online written exam consisting of 100 Objective-type MCQs divided into 5 parts, each with 20 questions. Each question will be worth one mark. The tier-I examination will last one hour.

Tier 1 Exam Negative Marking

Only tier 1 of the IB ACIO exam has negative marking. For each incorrect answer one-fourth of mark on that question will be deducted.

Tier-II Exam pattern

The IB ACIO Tier 2 exam is a 60-minute descriptive paper that the candidate must complete. The paper is divided into two parts, the details of which are listed below:

Tier-III Interview Pattern

Candidates will be shortlisted for the IB ACIO 2022 Tier-III (Interview round) based on their combined performance in the Tier-I & Tier-II exams and at 5 times the total number of vacancies, provided they score at least 33% (17/50) in the Tier-II exam.

Candidates should be aware that the cutoffs for the Tier I and Tier II exams in various categories may differ depending on the candidates’ scores and the total number of openings.

Candidates must present original documents/certificates when appearing for the Tier-III/Interview process. The Psychometric/ Aptitude test, which is also part of the Tier-III exam, will then be scheduled for them.

Candidates who have not yet received their degree and are applying for the Tier-III/Interview process must produce a provisional education certificate demonstrating that qualification on or before the interview process’s closing date. Any proofs submitted after the deadline due to a delay in the announcement of the results or for any other reason will be rejected.

Selection Process of IB ACIO 2022

When selecting candidates, the IB ACIO follows a specific procedure, which is outlined below.

  • Tier I of the IB ACIO 2022 exam is required of all registered candidates.
  • Candidates who pass the IB ACIO Tier 1 exam are invited to take the IB ACIO Tier II exam.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for the interview round based on their combined performance in Tiers I and II.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for final selection and document verification based on their performance in Tiers I, II, and interview.

Tie-breaker method of IB ACIO 2022

If the candidates’ combined scores in the Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams are tied, the case can be resolved by using any of the following criteria until the tie is resolved.

  • Tier-III marks obtained
  • Marks obtained in Tier-II
  • Normalized marks obtained in Tier-I
  • Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher
  • Alphabetical order of candidates’ names (starting with the first name)
