HPSC Exam Pattern: When preparing for the HCS (Executive Branch) and Allied Services Exam, the first step is to familiarise yourself with the exam pattern, syllabus, and marking scheme. This will make it easier to plan out how and what to study, making the preparation process go more smoothly. The HPSC Haryana Civil Service exam is modelled after the UPSC exam. The exam is a paper-based, offline examination. The exam format has undergone some minor changes, which will be discussed later in this article. Aspirants should review the previous year’s question papers to learn about the types of questions that were asked.


HPSC HCS Selection Process 2022

For final selection, the HCS exam has three stages: preliminary, mains, and personal interview. Candidates who pass the preliminary exam will be eligible to take the Mains exam. Following that, candidates are invited to an interview round, after which the final selection is made.

  • The preliminary test, which consists of two papers, is only for qualifying purposes.
  • There are five papers in the Stage II–Mains exam.

Preliminary Examination

HPSC Exam Pattern: The HPSC Civil Services Selection Process begins with the preliminary examination. According to student feedback, the preliminary examination is simple. Candidates can, however, refer to the following Haryana Civil Services Rules for the exam:

  • The examination will consist of objective questions.
  • The pre-examination will consist of two papers in total.
  • Each paper asked in the preliminary exam will take 2 hours to complete.
  • For each incorrect answer, a quarter of a mark will be deducted.

Main Examination

  • The main examination for the HPSC Civil Services will also be conducted in pen and paper format.
  • The HPSC mains examination consists of four papers. While the three subjects of English, Hindi, and General Studies will be required of all students. The candidate must select an optional paper from among the 29 subjects listed in the subject list.
  • The examination’s questions will be traditional and subjective in nature.

Interview

The final stage of the HPSC Civil Services 2022 Selection Process is the interview. Only those candidates who receive a high score on the Mains examination are invited to the interview stage. According to the official announcement, the interview evaluates the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and overall mentality.

The interview round is worth 75 points, according to the Haryana Civil Services Rules. This stage of the interview will assess the candidate’s personality, oratory skills, and other factors. The HPSC compiles a final merit list by combining the results of the interview and the Mains exam.

HPSC HCS Syllabus for Prelims

The HPSC HCS Prelims exam has only two papers, and the syllabus for both subjects is listed below.

Paper 1 : General Studies

  1. Indian and World Geography
  2. General Mental Ability: testing reasoning and analytical abilities.
  3. Indian Polity and Economy: Constitution of India and Economic development in the country, basic concepts of Economics.
  4. Haryana- Social, economic and cultural institutions, Economy and people; and language of Haryana.
  5. General Science: Including knowledge of concepts of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  6. Current Affairs: Recent happenings in India and the World.
  7. History of India & Indian National Movement

Paper 2– Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT)

  1. Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  2. Basic numeracy (Class 10 level)
  3. General mental ability
  4. Decision-making and problem solving
  5. Reading comprehension
  6. Interpersonal skills, including communication skills
  7. Data interpretation (Class 10 level)

HPSC HCS Syllabus for Mains

On the basis of subjects, the HPSC HCS syllabus for the Mains 2022 exam is listed below.

Paper 2: Hindi

  1. Explanation of Hindi passage (with reference to poetry or prose)
