Both male and female candidates can apply for the recruitment except for the post of SCT Police Constable (APSP), for which only male candidates are eligible to apply.

As of 1st July 2020, the age of the candidate must be between

AP Police Constable Exam Pattern 2024

AP Police Constable Selection Process

Candidates will be required to take a preliminary examination first. Further information on the examination format is provided. The physical dimensions of the qualified candidates will be measured. Candidates who pass the measurement standards will be put through a physical efficiency test. The candidates will then have to take the final written exam. The candidates will be chosen based on their merit position in the final merit list.

The Preliminary Written Test 

The preliminary written exam will be worth 200 marks. Candidates must pass the written test in order to advance to the next phase, the physical standard test.

The Physical Standard Test

The PST round will be held for candidates who have been shortlisted from the written test. Details for the posts of SI, SCT SI, R.S.I., and Fire Officer are listed below:

Male candidates

  • Height: Not less than 167.6 cm
  • Chest: Not less than 86. 3 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 centimeters.

Female candidates

  • Height: not less than 152.5 cm
  • Weight: not less than 40 kgs

The Physical Efficiency Test

After passing the physical standard test, a candidate will be eligible to take the physical efficiency test. Physical strength and efficiency are assessed in this test candidate. Find out more in the sections below.

100 meters run

  • General candidates: 15 seconds
  • Ex-servicemen candidates: 16.50 seconds
  • Women candidates: 18 seconds

Long Jump

  • General candidates: 03.80 meters
  • Ex-servicemen candidates: 03.65 meters
  • Women candidates: 2.75 meters

1600 meters run

  • General candidates: 08 minutes
  • Ex-servicemen candidates: 09 minutes 30 seconds
  • Women candidates: 10 minutes 30 seconds

The Physical Measurement Test

For Scheduled Tribes (S.T.s) and Aboriginal Tribes in the Agency areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts

Male candidates

  • Height: Not less than 160 cms
  • Chest: Not less than 80 cms (with a minimum expansion of 3 cms)

Female candidates

  • Height: not less than 150 cms.
  • Weight: not less than 38 kgs.

Required Eyesight 

  • Required Distant Vision: Right eye – 6/6, Left eye – 6/6

  • Each eye should have a full field of vision.
  • Candidates with color blindness, squint, or any morbid condition of the eye or lids of either eye will be disqualified.

The Mains Exam

To advance to the final stage of the selection process, the Mains written exam, candidates must pass all stages of the selection process. Candidates must pass the main exam, which consists of 400 questions, in order to be considered for the position.
