Opening an application portal, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) welcomes registrations for open positions. By visiting wbbpeonline and choosing the “Application for Recruitment 2022” option, candidates who have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) may submit an employment application. The registration period will end on November 14, 2022, at midnight. There are 11,765 open positions in total, and the court’s ruling will result in the elimination of 86 of them. For general candidates, the application fee is Rs 150; for OBC-A and OBC-B candidates, it is Rs 100; and for SC, ST, and PH candidates, it is Rs 50. The selection of candidates will adhere to the 2016 WBBPE Recruitment Rules.
“It is hereby announced to all parties involved that, in accordance with the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta’s order, online applications for recruitment are invited from TET-qualified trained candidates, including the candidates enrolled in DElEd, special DEd, and BEd courses for the 2020–2022 academic year, against state-wide vacancies for appointment to the posts of assistant teacher in government, government-aided, sponsored, junior, and basic primary schools, against 11,765 number of openings.
Hundreds of “qualified” TET applicants, who asserted to have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in 2014, are currently staging a sit-in outside the WBBPE office and demanding that they be handed immediate job appointment letters in exchange for refusing to take the test once more. The board disallowed the idea of directly hiring individuals who passed their exams but failed their interviews and asked these applicants to retake the TET exam this year. The protesters were dispersed by the West Bengal Police, who also implemented Section 144, which forbids gatherings of four or more individuals in one place. A total of 500 protesters were ejected from the area.
