On Friday, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu emphasised the importance of adopting the mother tongue in early education and urged state governments to fully execute the National Education Policy 2020. After awarding Odia author Pratibha Ray with the C. Narayana Reddy National Literary Award, he spoke to a group. C. Narayana Reddy made an “invaluable addition” to Telugu literature and language, according to Naidu, who also claimed that his writings mesmerised the Telugu people. Naidu cited Reddy’s epic poem “Vishwambhara,” which won him the Jnanpith Award, saying it beautifully captures the complex bond between people and the natural world.

Reddy was a legislator who made several helpful ideas in the Rajya Sabha and fought arduously for the use of mother tongue in education, according to Naidu. Ray is an accomplished author of novels and short tales in the Odia language who writes frequently about significant societal topics. She also received the Padma Shri in 2007 and the Padma Bhushan in 2022, as well as the Jnanpith Award in 2011.
