The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared that the second edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG will take place from May 21 to 31, 2023. The UG admission process in universities will be finished by July of 2023, allowing the upcoming academic session to start on August 1.
In March of the previous year, the University Grants Commission revealed that all central universities in the country would be carrying out their UG admissions based on CUET scores instead of the Class 12 marks or individual university entrance exams that were previously used.
M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the UGC, declared that applications for CUET 2023 will commence in the opening week of February 2023. No changes will be made to the number of topics or the format of the test papers. Individuals can choose up to 6 domain subjects, plus one or two languages, in addition to the General Test. These languages are Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, he added.
Kumar stated that the NTA is working on setting up 1,000 test centres nationwide and have decided to use around 450-500 of them per day. An announcement about the CUET-PG date is anticipated for next week. The CUET-UG and CUET-PG exams are projected to take place in the first or second week of June 2023 and the results are expected to be declared in the third week of June for the former and in the first week of July for the latter. This timeline should allow universities to complete the admission process by the end of July 2023 and commence their academic year on August 1, 2023.
