Those preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main are still trying to get the attention of authorities to get rid of the 75% requirement for droppers and postpone the exam since it was announced a month prior to the exam. Out of fear of not having enough time to cover the JEE Main 2023 syllabus, students have been using the hashtags #JEEMain and #JEEMains2023 and tagging the appropriate authorities to take notice of their requests. On this subject, a petition was filed in the Bombay High Court asking for a postponement and to address the 75% criterion of JEE Main 2023.

At the end of December 2022, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to address the needs of the student body. The commission asserted that the one month notice given to students was inadequate for them to prepare for the JEE Main and labeled it as ‘unjust and unfair’. The JEE Main 2023 candidates are requesting that the examination be postponed to April due to the compressed timeframe and the late announcement.

In a letter, MP Karti P Chidambaram requested a single-time exemption for JEE Main aspirants who experienced technical problems during the 2022 test, thus making them unable to meet the criteria to take the 2023 exam. Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan answered the letter, stating that the issue has been forwarded to the relevant departments and will be examined.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic causing academic disruption, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had removed the requirement of a minimum score of 75% in JEE Main last year as a one-time measure. The first session of JEE Main 2023 is set to be held between January 24th and 31st, 2023, and the second session is scheduled for April 6th, 8th, 10th to 12th, 2023. The last date to register for JEE Main 2023 is January 12th.
