A critical announcement has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for those who finished their tenth grade exams in 2021 and are registered for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 in Tamil Nadu. Candidates can view the statement on the NTA JEE official website- jeemain.nta.ac.in.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has allowed students from Tamil Nadu who completed their 10th grade in 2021 to register and take the JEE Main 2023 exam after receiving petitions from applicants whose class 10 exams were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and thus, they had no scores on their 10th grade mark sheets.

The agency has determined that students in this category will not be able to choose ‘passing year’ or ‘school board’ as options, and the related fields for grades and CGPA will not be visible. For those who have already filled out the application form and selected 2021 as the passing year, Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination (Sec.) as the school board and paid the fee, the Result Mode field will be disabled, and the Total Marks, Obtained Marks, and Percentage of Marks fields will remain invisible. This is further detailed in the official NTA JEE Main 2023 notification.

This ruling was put in place after many students voiced their worries regarding their JEE Main registration. Students of the 2021 10th grade did not have exact scores in their Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) as the JEE Main 2023 application necessitated applicants to provide their Class-10 results in the form for the entrance assessment.

N Vijayan, the senior principal of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram, announced on Thursday that the School Education Department has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to allow Tamil Nadu students to submit their applications for the exam without their Class X marks in light of the pandemic situation. He further stated that the NTA officials have promised that this issue will be addressed shortly, thus urging students to not be alarmed and to get ready for the examination.

The application process for JEE Main 2023 is open from December 15th until January 12th. NTA will be releasing the admission ticket for the exam in the third week of January 2023 and the JEE Main 2023 session 1 will be taking place from January 24th to the 31st.
