The National Means Cummerit Scholarship program (NMMSS) has extended the deadline for applications until October 31, 2022. The annual scholarship amount is Rs 12,000. Every year, the state government, government-aided, and local schools provide one lakh scholarships to deserving students, beginning in class 9 and renewing them for classes 10 through 12. Scholarships are given to students from economically disadvantaged groups as part of the “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme” to encourage them to finish their secondary education and lower dropout rates.

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP), a one-stop shop for student scholarship programmes, has the NMMSS on board. Following the direct benefit transfer (DBT) mode, the students are paid immediately into their bank accounts by an electronic transfer through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The Central government is totally funding the NMMSS.

Eligibility

The award is available to students whose parents’ combined annual income does not exceed Rs 3,50,00. Additionally, in order to participate in the scholarship selection test, students must have received at least a 55 percent or an equal mark on their class 7 exams (relaxable by 5 percent for SC and ST students). The last day to be verified at the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) level (L1) and District Nodal Officer (DNO) level (L2) levels are November 15, 2022, respectively.
