All medical institutions must register with and submit their 10-year academic certificate data through Digilocker-NAD, according to the National Medical Commission (NMC) (National Academic Depository). Medical colleges and universities can register at nad.digilocker.gov.in. In a formal announcement, Sandhya Bhullar, Secretary, NMC, requested that all medical institutions abide by the directives in the letter above and register with Digilocker-NAD (nad.digilocker.gov.in) and upload their 10 years’ worth of academic certificate data (degree, mark sheet, admit card, score card, etc.) as soon as possible.

To make it easier for students to obtain genuine educational documents or certificates in digital format directly from their original issuers, the Ministry of Education has delegated the NAD implementation via Digilocker. According to information technology regulations, the digital copy that is stored in the Digilocker will be treated equally to the original physical document.

One of the essential components of the “India stack,” which also includes Aadhaar, UPI, Digilocker, and the eConsent Framework, is Digilocker. Digilocker offers consent-based third-party verification in addition to being a vault for publically accessible documents. Up to this point, more than 12.6 billion users have registered, and Digilocker currently hosts 560 billion documents from 2205 public and private organisations. According to a letter from the National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to the Secretary-General, NMC, the project e-Sanad of the Ministry of External Affairs has been integrated with Digilocker-NAD, which aids in the verification process of the student going abroad.

According to the letter, Digilocker has more than 1650 academic institutions in the education sector, including universities, institutes of national importance (INIs), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), state boards, the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), among others, as well as more than 60 crore records of academic certificates. “Institutions are encouraged to actively participate in the timely roll-out of Digilocker-NAD services, which will shorten the turnaround time in the admissions as well as the hiring process,” it continued.
