NLSIU Bengaluru has increased the seat intake for their 5-year BA LLB and one-year LLM programmes under their Inclusion and Expansion Plan. BA LLB seats have been increased from 180 to 240 and the total intake for the LLM programme has been increased from 75 to 100.
In June 2021, the NLSIU announced a plan for growth and inclusion which is projected to lead to a student population of more than 2,200 in the on-campus programmes by 2028-29. This scheme has already seen the BA LLB seats increased from 120 to 180, and the LLM seats from 50 to 75. Additionally, a 3-year LLB programme was launched last year with admissions being made through the National Law School Admission Test (NLSAT).
Admittance to both the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws (BA LLB) and the Master of Laws (LLM) courses are done through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The nationwide test, CLAT 2023, will be administered by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) on the 18th of December, 2022 in a non-online format.
At NLSIU Bengaluru, 25% of the total seats will be saved for those who are from Karnataka. As a result, 60 BA LLB spots and 25 LLM slots will be available for domiciled applicants.
Course | BA LLB | LLM |
All India seats | 180 | 75 |
Domiciles of Karnataka | 60 | 25 |
Total | 240 | 100 |
The annual tuition fee for the BA LLB and LLM courses at NLSIU is estimated to be around Rs. 3.27 Lakh for general category students and Rs. 3.23 Lakh for SC and ST candidates. All applicants must settle the fee at the time of CLAT counselling.
