The new national educational policy (NEP), according to Union Minister for Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday, is the philosophical text of the twenty-first century that aims to integrate the traditional with the contemporary.
Speaking at the 20th convocation of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in this city, he declared that by 2047, when the country would mark 100 years since its independence from British domination, the Union government hopes to have the country among the developed nations. He asserted that the nation would play a significant part in the advancement of humanity in the future and reclaim its status as the “Vishwa Guru.” In order to transform the technical institute into a national leader in the country’s energy transition within a decade, he wished for the NITK to establish a fully functional sustainable energy department.
The Minister stated that important fields including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, electronics, genome editing, and 3D printing should be the nation’s future priority. On the NITK campus, Pradhan officially opened a new building for the central research facility (CRF) and the school of interdisciplinary studies. Speaking at the event, he asserted that organisations like NITK are essential for developing the skills needed to meet global issues. The Minister stated that the nation’s IITs had gained recognition for their high-quality education on an international scale and expressed the hope that the nation would be able to establish IITs abroad within the next two years.
