Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister, stated on Wednesday that the Delhi government has given “equal significance” to the development of athletic and educational infrastructure. At the start of a three-day annual zonal athletic meet for education zone 2, Sisodia said that the Delhi government supports sports by providing athletes with the tools and facilities they need. The Delhi government encourages sports by providing athletes with all the resources they require to be successful. An example of this is the sports complex in East Vinod Nagar, which had subpar facilities and unimproved tracks. However, it now has state-of-the-art athletic facilities. Synthetic tracks and a number of necessary facilities have also been built in order to prepare athletes for sporting competitions, according to him.

The three-day athletic event will draw more than 900 pupils from diverse Zone-2 schools. Sisodia commented on the young athletes competing in the sports competition by saying, “The players are really dedicated and will one day make the nation proud by winning gold at world championships.

To guarantee this, the government seeks to give these athletes access to all sporting facilities. He promised the athletes that their advancement in the national capital would “never be hampered” by a “want of money.” “We established programmes for players like ‘Play and Progress’ and ‘Mission Excellence,’ under which the government pays for the best players’ coaching, food, and equipment. This offers the athletes adequate time to put in a hard effort and concentrate on taking home trophies for their nation, he said. Financial support of up to Rs 2.5 lakh per year is given to gifted players between the ages of 13 and 14 under the “play and progress programme,” while players who do well receive the support of up to Rs 16 lakh per year under the “Mission Excellence” programme.
