The 2022 Inter-IIT Sports Meet is being held jointly by the Indian Institutes of Technology Delhi and Roorkee (IIT-D and IIT-R), with participation from all IITs taking place between December 14th-22nd.
At the event, twelve distinct sports will be featured, with IIT-D hosting athletics, badminton, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, and chess, while cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, squash, and weightlifting will be held at IIT Roorkee. The event was officially opened by the former Indian athlete Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, who was the national flag bearer for India during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
At the inaugural ceremony, all the participating institutes had a march past and IIT-ISM Dhanbad was awarded for their impressive contingent. This was then followed by various cultural performances.
IIT Bombay posted about the 162 students, officers, coaches and staff who are representing the institute at the 55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet. Taking place from December 14-22, 2022 at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee, the event has gotten off to an exciting start.
IIT Goa expressed their enthusiasm for the event on their Twitter, announcing that a team of 100 (94 competitors and 6 team officials) had left for Delhi/Roorkee that morning. They expressed their support for the team, wishing them luck in the competition.
