The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has come to a formal agreement with the University of Ladakh, which includes exchanging faculty, undertaking joint research projects, and other areas of shared interest. This agreement will result in IIM Jammu establishing a satellite location at the University of Ladakh.
The contract was inked by IIM Jammu’s director, BS Sahay and University of Ladakh’s vice-chancellor, SK Mehta. Alongside them were IIM Jammu’s dean of academics, Jabir Ali; Registrar, Ashok Sharma; assistant professor of commerce, Jigmet Stobdan and University of Ladakh’s principal Amjad Ali Abbasi. All those present participated in the signing ceremony.
This arrangement will enable both IIM Jammu and University of Ladakh to partake in faculty and student exchange, collaborate to hold workshops, sports activities, interactive sessions, short-term education programmes to advance research and explore joint sports carnivals, and offer internship chances to students from both Institutes.
Besides this, the two institutes will work together to provide courses and certificates in their common areas of interest, stimulate research in cross-disciplinary topics, share information on teaching, learning material, and other educational and research related literature.
After signing the Memorandum of Understanding, the delegates from University of Ladakh took a group photo, had lunch, and visited the permanent campus of IIM Jammu at Jagti. Prior to this visit, the students and faculty of University of Ladakh had come to IIM Jammu’s transit Canal Road Campus on December 12 for a learning experience.
At the event, IIM Jammu’s director, BS Saha, announced it was a momentous day for the institute as the University of Ladakh had granted them permission to open a Transit Off-Campus in Leh. The two institutions have reached an agreement to collaborate in areas such as educational growth, fostering entrepreneurship, executive education, and skill development. Additionally, they plan to organize joint conferences, short-term educational programs, research, boot camps, and other activities that will benefit the stakeholders in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
At the event, SK Mehta, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, remarked that the partnership with IIM Jammu will be beneficial for their institution in many ways. It will enable them to create educational and training programs, strategize for the future, foster entrepreneurship, and provide more exposure for their faculty and students. Furthermore, the collaboration between the two renowned Institutes will help the University of Ladakh improve their research efforts. This alliance will allow for the sharing of resources between both Institutes.
