IIT Ropar is teaming up with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad-incubated edtech startup GUVI to improve e-learning services. They will be conducting research to enhance ZEN Class, a program focused on placements. This program offers placement-oriented online boot camps in areas like full-stack development, data science with advanced programming, data engineering, business analytics with digital marketing, automation testing and UI/UX.
IIT Ropar is going to explore different ways of teaching, learning and pedagogical methods that will result in successful learning outcomes. GUVI, an edtech startup, which has been supported by two of India’s most prominent institutions, IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, is focused on producing IT and software personnel through self-paced technology courses, career programs and other edtech offerings. The online platform allows students to receive the courses in their native languages, while providing specialized IT courses to help them become ‘job ready’ over the internet.
The platform has educated more than 18 lakh students across the globe with self-guided online classes and more than 2,000 successful job placements. It provides technology skills that are sought after in the industry in various regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Bengali in addition to English.
IIT Ropar’s head of department of computer science, Sudarshan Iyengar, emphasized the distinct features of this partnership, and revealed that his research lab specializes in online education-related technologies. They were looking to apply EdTech concepts to portals like GUVI, which has already reached 18 lakh students. Their goal is to enhance learning and teaching techniques, and to improve their connection with GUVI.
Upon agreeing to this collaboration, Arunprakash M, GUVI’s founder and CEO, expressed that this partnership with IIT Ropar is a major accomplishment in GUVI’s education mission. To guarantee that knowledge is passed on through Zen class, they are prepared to adjust their teams and teaching methods to make sure a quicker success for their students.
