From December 31, 2022 to January 3, 2023, HIMCOSTE held the 30th Children’s Science Congress at IIT Mandi. The topic of discussion was ‘Comprehending Ecosystems for Health and Wellbeing’. The four-day event included activities such as quizzes, math olympiads, scientific project reports, skits, and model displays. The 16 most impressive scientific reports will be competing nationally at the Children’s Science Congress in Ahmedabad and Gujarat in January 2023.
The honorable guest at the closing ceremony was Rajesh Dharmani, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh. Other prominent figures present were Amarnath Rana, the director of elementary education from Mandi; Devinder Chandel, the deputy director of elementary education from Una; SS Randhawa, the principal scientific officer from HIMCOSTE; Ashok Walia, the district science supervisor from Mandi; Dipshika Gaur, the senior scientific officer and coordinator of the Children’s Science Congress; Shalu Parmar, the president of the Women Wing of the HP Science Master Association; and Satinder Sharma and Tushar Jain from IIT Mandi.
At the event, Rajesh Dharmani, the MLA of Himachal Pradesh, spoke to the attendees, emphasizing that students must strive harder than expected in order to accomplish anything. He suggested that they should set high goals and do their best to reach them. According to him, being well-rounded is essential in the current climate to be successful. Furthermore, Dharmani proposed that teachers should perform a SWOT analysis for each student, helping them to understand their inclinations and capabilities. Lastly, he mentioned that HIMCOSTE will soon have a platform where learners can pose their questions.
Satpal Dhiman, Additional Secretary of Environment Science and Technology and Joint Member Secretary of HIMCOSTE, stated that the HP Children’s Science Congress took place at IIT Mandi in order to inspire students to follow scientific and technological paths.
