For working professionals, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has introduced an industry-focused online certificate programme on e-Mobility. According to the institute, the certificate program was created with consultation from industry professionals and would be regularly updated depending on technology advances, market trends, and industry needs.

The online certificate programme consists of 120 hours of video classes and an additional 40 hours of faculty-led online contact hours. Regular assignments and a final evaluation are required of candidates before they can acquire a certificate. First-come, first-served registration will take place, and the first cohort will begin at the beginning of October.
The deadline to sign up for the e-Mobility online certificate programme is September 30, 2022. The first day of the course is October 2, 2022.

“One distinctive aspect of the course is that four out of the nine modules in the programme contain content delivered by industry specialists. The course will provide an overview of the e-Mobility Eco-System as well as fundamental knowledge in technical fields like vehicle development, power electronics, battery engineering, thermal management, power trains, and EMI/ EMC, among other areas, according to a statement from IIT Madras. The course is being offered through CODE, the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education. “Eco-System details on global and Indian market trends, technological trends, policy trends, and supply chain trends will be given an overview before digging into technical intricacies,” the institute stated in a statement about the course.

IIT Madras director V Kamakoti emphasised the need for such certificate programmes when he remarked, “We introduced our Dual Degree in EV Engineering late last year – a Program exclusively for our BTech students. Since then, there have been a lot of inquiries from friends and well-wishers in the sector regarding the need to re-skill or up-skill their current staff as the car industry quickly migrates significant quantities to EVs in the coming years. In addition, Kamakoti added, “We are creating this Program to serve the demands of the diverse Working Professionals across Industries and Departments. IIT Madras will keep expanding quickly in the field of e-Mobility, focusing especially on remote delivery employing cutting-edge technology for working professionals who require adaptability and relevance.
